Rod, Phil and the rest of us like having camp set up and wheeling for three days from Lodestone.

And to put to rest the pansy issue. Bill, and a few others. Only pansies have to set up camp once or twice along that trail. Many of us "non pansies" can drive fron Van to the trailhead, run the trail, and still get to Lodestone for dinner. The diffenace is, we don't drive "pansy" speed. After 20 years, I have never failed to complete the trail in one go.

How many of can say you can make it in one shot? If you can, why set up at Cruiser lake night one, Wells lake night two, then Lodestone night three? It's only a 7 hour trail.:flipoff2:

Don’t take it so hard tj, we are just pulling your chain again. If you want to do it that way, it’s all good. You like to power through to the destination, I like to take my time and enjoy the ride: hey, no problem for either of us. There’s no one right way to wheel. I like to relax at Cruiser Lake and watch the stars in quiet solitude, far away from the pounding Credence Clearwater redneck yahoo shotgun drunken Ford 150 S.O. bozo Neanderthals that we occasionally encounter along the route. Who knows, maybe I’ll come in the back way one day if I feel like it. No sweat.

Yah know Bill, one of the main reasons we like getting up to Lodestone on Friday, is because there is nobody there. Every year it's the same, nice and quite Fri and usually Sat. Most "rednecks" start at the trail head and work thier way in. They are either in front of you or behind. They don't even show at Lodestone until you get there. Last year was Phil (crew), Shane (crew) and me. I dosn't get much more quite than that. We then "take our time" exploring the trail from Lodestone to Wells (get stuck in the mud) and backroads on Sat and Sun. You can do the math, but with all the setup and breakdown of camp, you only get about 3hrs of wheeling (exploring) per day and as far as quiet solitude, I do believe we get more. ;)

Now, I'm not really knocking coming in that way. I do like the drive. It's just that everytime you guys do it as a group, some complain that it took too long.

I was just talking to my wheeling buddy, Gary T, and he is talking about wanting to let his sister, from Princeton, accompany him in her vehicle. He says that they would have to come in the back way because her vehicle couldn't come in the front way. So, if that transpires, then we would come in the back way after all. I also have to admit I get fed up with setting up the tent three times and spending so much time on housekeeping rather than bullsitting around the fire or wheeling.
Having said that, it is not an admission that coming in the back way is better, because I do believe that the "Whipsaw experience" means the whole meal deal from front to back. Also, there are other lakes and roads past the old mine on the Whipsaw trail that could be explored rather than just carrying on to Loadstone. Anyway, it looks like we'll do it your way this year.
...to be continued...:p

Of course, some of us old timers have been running this trail for over 15 years. It was a lot more challenging 15 years ago, and a lot less traffic. I have many years of "Whipsaw Experience", and my FJ40 has more experience than me... it went on the trail a couple times without me.
GG

How do you know when it is time to do some different trails? When your rig has been there so often it can do it without you. :D

Umm..I was there on one of those trips. While it did make the whole trip, lets just say it had lots of help finishing it.
The entire story is in published print, Toyota Trails circa '99... i think?

Rob Mullen "why I hate the Whipsaw" ;)

So I just got some very bad news, 1st is the very large possibility that I have an out of town job happening at the end of the month that will last almost 2 weeks, and the other is that it's in Fort St. John, B.C., as well as the fact that I can't take my truck up there due to the amount of stuff needed for the job - so no off roading while I'm there. If this goes through then I won't be able to make it. I hope the cheque bounces or the stuff doesn't show up in time.

So, the tentative plan for the Whipsaw trip is for people leaving Friday morning, August 1, to meet at the Timmy Horton's on Lickman Road, Chilliwack, after you fuel up. Time to be arranged, most likely around 10:00 a.m. but don't quote me just yet. I believe Barry, Chris, Gary T, and I will be there; probably others as well. Gary & I will be stopping in Princeton to pick up his sister. Its going to be hot & dusty. Bring bathing suit for Lodestone swimming. :smokin:

Well I've been informed that after this weekends mosquito feeding frenzy, the :princess: ain't going unless we have some kinda large industrial 20 acre 'skeeter vac! or at least some kinda 12v variety to kill all them little bastards lingering in the tent and truck.
My kids look like they have chickenpox ;)
