While I was pulling things apart on the Rescue 60 I had an epiphany and realized that we have a new ATC product line coming out. The new ATC line is called "Rock Mountain Recovery Gear". This is a line of heavy duty technical recovery bags for the off-road pro, SAR's member, commercial recovery businesses, etc.. So, with that in mind this project is now going to be the ATC Rocky Mountain Recovery (RMR60) Vehicle project and the 60 will become the promo vehicle for the RMR line!

Now, first of, this is not going to be a $100 million dollar SEMA build it's still just going to be a fun, part-time, resto, rusty parts, patina'd parts, "Roadkill tv" style, VERY budget minded!, buddy wrenching, beer drinking, live in the mountains type build that will be in some ATC/RMR/Lonely Gargoyle product pictures. (And,hopefully starts and runs on a regular basis!)

Let the fun begin!

The 1969 PlowPig55 popped a HG last winter during our last spring super snow event. I've pilled the head and got it mag fluxed, milled and harden seats and just waiting on a new copper oiling tube from Spector to get it all back together before winter hits!

(btw, we're getting our first light wintermix/snow this morning as I write this!)

Wow. That was rusty! Thats what 30 + years of driving Colorado mag chloride roads will do to your truck....The outward bolts holding on the rear bumper, directly behind the rear tires had been exposed to direct rear tire splash due to no rear tire mudflaps and literally just melted into a rounded blob of metal. Nothing to get ahold of. Had to use a cut-off wheel to cut the rear bumper off!

Now just need to find a replacement bumper and end caps!

Adventure Tool Company's 1969 Toyota PlowPig55 now has its own Cartoon and Stickers! He works his tail off keeping our Design Studio clear all winter long!

I’m head over heels, man! What a wonderful fugly pig?!

Do you happen to know what paint that is? Is the original white? Looks like the engine bay is white or beige. I have my 60 pulled apart for an engine overhaul and I’m cleaning up the engine bay for a repaint. I got the crazy idea to paint her some kind of green.

I painted the firewall Judson green but I want something darker. Actually, I want it Rustoleum Hunter Green, but if there is a Toyota code that is close, I’d much rather use that.

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know the paint code for the green. It did get the dealer red/white paint back in 1969. The full green paint was done sometime in the 80's when it got moved from California to Colorado. I've seen some white/green combinations so the green must be a toyota color. One of these days I want to respray it back to the white/red paint colors.

Here's some images I keep for reference.

@cps432 I know the pigs came in Nebula green and white. They may have also come in Judson green and white - at different times obviously.

@AdventureToolCompany Paul, I got some stickers of my truck like that too. Let’s trade at the next Rising Sun meeting? I need one of your pig.

It’s nearly impossible to see the difference between all those colors online. Every camera is different. Your monitor is different. Every truck has faded differently. Every restoration is slightly different.

My old neighbor in Boulder had an fj40 beater and a really nice restored one. The beater was this awesome forest green with white primer showing through. It must have been original. Everyone says that it was Judson green but the color I shot on my firewall is much lighter than his truck.

Reading in the 40/55 section seems like they also have issues matching the old greens Toyota used back in the 60’s and 70’s.

Maybe his truck was Nebula green but I’m not certain I know what nebula looks like in person.

I love my Land Cruiser Club, The Rising Sun 4x4 Club of Denver, Co. Mainly, because it has amazing members, such as Ige/nuclearlemon and Doug/Telly!

They both offered up coveted spare parts for the Adventure Tool Companies RMR60 Resto build and my wife and I hopped in our truck and drove over 500 miles from Nederland to Wyoming to Monument to pickup these coveted patina'd cruiser parts!

I got (5) fj40 steelies with center caps from Ige and an awesome fj60 rear bumper and caps from Doug!

Thank you both!

Boom.....New shoes and the RMR60 is looking gooooood.

Just need to pull/swap engines, throw the BDS suspension on it and she's done.....most likely by next summer (Winter is on our doorstep and I have to finish the PlowPig55 before that!) but, Done!

Darn-it......Was jacking around clearing our fire road and I put the PlowPig up and over a snow mound and got stuck.....My lovely wife (mountain woman) is used to this silliness by me by now so she hops in our old 4wd truck and drove it down with a tow strap and pulled my dum arse out. Best wife ever!

Just some random old RhinoRide60 I ran across.

The Earthroamer shot was when we built custom tool bags for ER and delivered them. Their attention to detail was amazing. We made each bag specifically for each truck with the truck number embroidered on the bag. Gorgeous.
