ASFIR Skid plates and front bumper

Something worth mentioning ~perhaps obvious.

A careful run around all the edges with emery cloth or similar will make handling any of these plates more comfortable. I took a file to the corners as well.

You should probably go ahead and start unboxing them. By the time your truck gets back, you might be close to finished. HAHAHAHA.

ASFIR knows how to pack these things so they won't get damaged in shipping. Not so good when you're trying to get all the "you bought what" evidence out of the house before the wife gets home.

@MongooseGA now that it is not middle of the night and I have some coffee in me...
... could you use some spacers under the ASFIR support bracket to clear the U-bolts for your sliders?

This is exactly what I'm planning on doing. I've got some aluminum spacers from a TT diff drop that I'll use.

You should at least take them inside...

Whose got pictures of all three skids installed? I might finally have time this weekend to start wrestling with these.

Here's a few:

For those adding the middle skid you may want to increase the front center support by 1/4" to make up for the overlap with the middle ( I added a wood block to the tube and just added .25" more wood).

Oh, and figure out how you are going to jack/lift -the pads for the lift I use just squeezed into the right spot.

Ok how's your drive shaft access with the center skid on?

I have the original diesel version so the access port is misaligned enough that it looks challenging at best.

With the quality of these overall I would bet the new petrol spec plate will give you good access.

I installed the new petrol ASFIR front and middle/gear skids on my 2006 LC with ACH and Slee Sliders and they fit perfectly! For now I kept the flimsy factory transfer plate. I did need to buy a longer bolt for the middle attach point for the front skid. I also drilled one bolt hole in the rear of the gear skid since I kept the factory transfer plate. The service holes align for good access to the drain plugs plus reaching around the side of the front skid to remove the oil filter will be no problem. You will not need to remove the skids at all for routine fluid changes. ASFIR provides great customer service!! Highly recommend them!

Please edit your original post so people do not get confused by your modifications. I was trying to figure out why you needed to do everything you listed, but being the diesel version explains it. I would feel bad if someone went and made modifications based on your post with the new petrol version.
