Market seems to be down on 40 series compared to a year ago. Prefer the stock six but for a 78 think the price is fair. Kicked around the idea of selling my 1970 FJ40 I bought from the original owner years ago but think the market is too soft.

4x Milestar Patagonia MT’s. 315/75/16. Date is 6/19 x3, and 5/19 x1. Lots of tread, looks like minor cupping.

The other day I was at Wally-world and gave my last CSC card to a 100 series that I parked next to. It had my email on it and they emailed me that they were wanting to sell it and if i knew anybody that would want it. All I have is the email address miss.delira@gmail.com if anyone has interest in buying it.

Stock, built, pretty, ugly, anything?

Fairly stock, clean, nothing cosmetic that I can remember, it seemed to be a family vehicle

Yup thats it

May be this one?

Stated condition like new. But also says this "you’ll need to do the cosmetic upgrades"
287K miles.

Is this really where the market is? $20k a realistic price? Would a bank finance any where hear that much for a vehicle over twenty-two years old and that many miles?

Well, manual transmissions are rare for that year. Highly coveted.

Way overpriced for year, mileage and condition IMO. The 2000 MY is the most common, highest production year I believe and doesn't have the desirable features that the early and late model years have. Available rear locker 98-99, 5 speed transmission 2003+ and VVTi 2006+. But that manual transmission.... ;)

Plus: ***The price will be adjusted as we improve the vehicle.

There is not many for sale now. I hope he gets what he asked for.

One could argue 2000 MY doesn't have all the problems in all other years. 98-99 has weak front pinion. 2003+ has navigation that is not easy to upgrade without giving up AC. VVTi 2006+ has their own issues. With that said, 2000 MY is not my favorite model year :):):)

I never had a problem with my 2000 not counting the transmission failure around 130k miles. This was at a time when 100 series was still looked down on by many compared to the 80 series. It was a great vehicle just didn't meet the puppy hauler duty and cargo carrier between homes like the second generation Sequoia. 5.7 V8 was big jump over the 4.7 V8 towing and hills. Certainly a solid vehicle. Think I spent to many years driving FJ40s and my FJ62, 100 series just seems too big. Mileage would also bother me. At that mileage would plan on higher maintenance and parts replacement needed.

Think the manual is covered because it was never offered in the states. I like my manual transmissions in the 40 series, particularly the three speed column shift. It offers challenges a automatic doesn't. Think everyone should learn to go off road in a non locked manual transmission. Add in manual steering and manual brakes and learn skills not required on new 4WDs. Need to do more just steer with one hand a push some buttons for the few things the vehicle does automatically on it's own. The 2000 had Trac which probably just as good as a rear locker. For snow and ice driving far out weights the rear locker if there is any bare pavement where a locker can't be left engaged.

Its not actually a manual - zoom in on the incredibly tiny pics, you'll see its an auto.

I mean, I'm all about 100 series prices being strong since I have one, but that thing is priced pretty high. The only mod I see are the Kings.

That appeared to be a bigger problem, or the biggest problem.

I was aware of the reports of abnormally high reports of 2000 the transmission failures before it happened. But not before purchasing. Other than that was a great vehicle. Only other issue was driver's power door lock not working when it was hot.

It was when and where it failed why it was it doomed to moved on to another owner. Friday night in November and it was snowing. Couple miles short of SR-87 coming out of Camp Verde vehicle had a sudden shudder. Turned on SR-87 heading north the transmission completely failed before reaching FS road 300. Cell service is spotty in that area. Got lucky and walked a short distance and was able to call AAA and my neighbor to pick up my wife and mom. Tow truck and neighbor arrived just as a ADOT supervisor was telling me vehicle had to be moved for snow plows. Could have been much worse but my wife was never going to trust that vehicle again.
