Reminder ---- From the Nov25 NHTSA Detailed Recall Report

"For the Tahara plant, data from the recovered engines,
study about the bearing robustness, and the field performance data indicate that an increased
level of this type of debris is present in engines produced between recall 24V-381 and the
implementation of the improvement to the #1 main bearing.
Thus, Toyota has decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall campaign for the above-described
vehicle production period. Engines produced in the Alabama plant for vehicles after this
period but before the implementation of an improved #1 main bearing remain under
investigation."

I want to highlight that Toyota specifically called out the potential for additional recalls of the Tundra (this new update is Tundra only). The current press release (May26) explicitly says that:

"Engines produced after those included in this recall were manufactured with an improved #1 main bearing to help resist certain debris that might remain."

I obviously have zero inside knowledge but Toyota has painted a very specific picture that the "improved #1 main bearing" mitigates or lowers the risk of damage to a substantially lower level. It will be borderline criminal for them to be completely lying at this point. I feel good about the 2025 and 2026 LX's. I like the Truck, I like the engine.

If it fixes the problem, then the engines produced after the improved #1 bearing was implemented would not be under recall. They are now under the latest recall. Therefore, the bearing improvement did not fix the issue.

This is the current press release. It says these are pre-improved bearing.

"The engines involved in this new recall were produced using additional controls for removing manufacturing debris. We have found that, even after these additional controls, the remaining debris could be sufficient to cause damage to the #1 main bearing and lead to this issue. Engines produced after those included in this recall were manufactured with an improved #1 main bearing to help resist certain debris that might remain."

75k combined miles in two modern 300 series LX's. Haven't had a single problem except when I beat it up and break stuff.

can't you all at least keep this stuff in the recall thread?

Oh, I totally thought the bearing was 1st half of 2024... Guess not.

Or I guess, to be fair they don't say if engines produced before this recall period didn't have the improved bearing...
