Are my rear doors a unicorn?

1) I swapped on an ‘81 hardtop to have the rear kickout windows. I find them very beneficial.

2) with four rear doors rather than just ambulance doors, you don’t get the ease of climbing in after opening a single door. At that point I’d rather the less obstructed view through a hatch and only 3 doors to open.

I added the vent window pillars to a 73 hard top. Vent windows, hardware and pillars came off a wrecked 78. Windows Infront the vent were smashed in the accident that wrecked the cruiser. Those pieces of glass were $17 at the time. Dead air space in the back is awful in the AZ heat.

Yes, I really like the kickout windows, on mine, the closer brushes against my rollbar, a tight fit.
A hatch would be nice, my upper doors have a mind of their own on a slope or in the wind!

The lower tailgate with split upper doors would be fine. The split upper and lower would probably rattle apart after a while. Tough to make all 4 pieces ridged enough to handle that kind of design.

BTW, Newer stock roll bars have a slightly sharper bend in the rear bars than '74-'75 roll bars which will allow for extra clearance with the handle.

8/76 was when the radius changed, start of the vent window. The roll bar's main beam was beefed up when the three point seat belts moved to the roll bar. Never actually weighed the difference in the bars but obvious the style for three point seat belts is heavier. Not sure if the side bars are heavier as well.
