moment. I'm just glad mine didn't cost me anything but time! You made it look so easy. Now I'm thinking about pulling the engine to just replace the spark plugs.... While I am at it I might as well rebuild the whole thing.

Lol, it was easier to get to the #6 plug!

And the PHH![]()
That too! Although, I had decided to do it the hard way a couple weeks prior... that way I can relate to all the complaints!![]()

The truck had been sitting for a year with a 3/4 full tank of gas of course. So after a lot of attempts to start I decided to drain all 15 gallons and put a fresh gallon in. Hoping thats the problem. Wondering if you have any ideas or tips on what could be causing the non-start. The fuel filter is new, the injectors were rebuilt, new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, etc. Battery is dead from the first time I tried to get it started. waiting for the battery to charge and going to give it another go in the morning.Bad gas could contribute, but it could be any number of things.
Check the following:
All wiring connections
Distributor installation (could be off 180*+/-)
Timing
Check for spark
If you have fuel, air and spark it should at least fire. Try turning it over with the new gas and check these things if it doesn't start.
Oh, also if you drain the fuel, you'll have to turn it over for a while to get the fuel pumping through the lines again. Unplug the distributor and turn the engine over for a few minutes. That should help get the oil moving and let the fuel flow through the lines.
now i'm gonna need to keep a look out for your awesome fj80. anyway nice rebuild. I want one of the awesome oil filler caps. also what machine shop did you use? I think I want some parts cleaned for $25!!!
Great build you made it look so easy. Thanks for sharing.
