This accident happened more than a year ago, but all the pictures of the Benz my wife took were print film. Finally got a scanner and have them online now. My wife was stopped at an intersection facing West. A South bound car was turning left and a North bound car (the Benz) ran the light, swerved to miss the car turning left, and hit our 80. The Benz ended up firmly wedged under the front of the 80, perpendicular to it. The cops estimated that the Benz was doing about 40. The 80 slid sideways about a foot from the impact.

The ARB side wing folded up and almost flat. The front lip wrinkled a little and the AC dryer bent off it's mount and cracked the AC lines open (I now have the Slee plate there).

My wife said the worst/best part was when the cop asked her if she could back off of the Mercedes. She said when she did the owner of the car was wincing pretty good from the sound of the grinding metal.

Sweet....note to self...MUST GET ARB.

That is one tough bumber. Glad she was ok!

Too bad she didn't get a picture of the guys face as she backed off his flattened car! :D

That is a beautiful thing.......:D

I trust you got a new bumper out of the deal, courtisy of the idiot that hit your wife..:flipoff2:

interesting to see that the sheet metal didn't get hit much at all, thanks to the height.
Lifts for everybody!

I would have been tempted to say "reverse doesn't work... let me try to go forward. "

Well Beo's is a 343 so that is really not much of a stretch....:flipoff2:

So let's hear a comparison of the repair history of Dan's and Beo's trannies.
:)

Yep, new bumper and new fender. The impact from the ARB wing bowed the fender out 1/2". And let me tell you, explaining to insurance and a body shop what an ARB is was a PITA.

Just now looking at the pic, I just noticed how far under the Benz went. I just caught that the top corner of the door is peeled a little.

You can't see from the pic, but the AC dryer and stock tow hook are tipped about 45 degrees. As I said, it opened the lines and killed the AC. The first repair they just straightened it and recharged the system. That lasted a few months, then the AC warmed up. Next repair they replaced the dryer, I got the Slee plate, and all's been well since.

Nice dig on the 343 Dan. LOL

Ya-I want to hear this too. I have heard of way more problems with the prehistoric trannies in the 93-94 trucks.

Put a shift solenoid in mine a while back. Pop the pan and a couple screws......Piece of Cake.:D

Not like dropping the valve body and adding balls. You do know that the 343 wasn't built with enough balls, didn't you?...:D

I had the fluid exchanged a few years ago. 156k miles on it now. Been thinkin' about having it done again one of these days.
