April 24 & 25 @ Badlands

After wading through all the dribble on this thread :), I counted 16 potential rigs including all the new guys with stock rigs and Phil, although I didn't see him commit anywhere. I didn't include Carl in the count (imagine that :)) or myself. If I know Carl, he is trying to make it but I have seen no updates on his build thread. My junk is down for the count with both pinion bearings shot in the rear and leaking diff fluid, antifreeze (from the rear heater pipe), and exhaust. Have most of the parts for replacing exhaust but diff bearings are on back order at Toyota. I did get the tire replaced that I blew at Badlands on the last outing.

So needless to say, I will be a passenger...driving the car up Sat. AM and possibly camping Sat. evening. I count 4 people coming as full time passengers and some others that may want to park their rigs during some of the day and ride along on the difficult trails. I think it would be helpful if the drivers could post up and give a count of open seats so we can plan for that. They are calling for 60% chance of storms Sat. with a high of 75. Sunday high is 64 and 40% chance of storms. So Sunday may be the better day. How many people are staying Sat. night? I guess that may depend on the weather. If quite a few are staying, do we want to coordinate food? Just some issues to consider. Looking forward to seeing everyone and also meeting new people.

I may have a pass seat. not sure yet.

If I stay til Sunday, I wont be wheeling, just grab some big cock breakfast and hit the road.

Subway has my name written all over it for saturday night. So count me out for food on sat.

(There Ron I kept that pretty "dribble" free :) )

Myself and Abby wanted to come down Friday night but couldn't get out of town till 8 pm so we will be down Sat. morning and planning on camping Sat. night.

So 9 o'clock it is, then....

Right on. I'll look out for you guys around 9. Might end up just turning this into a meet and greet for me after all if it gets snotty or muddy. I'm still running on M+S rated girlie tires. I promise to bring pictures and stories of how cool I USED to be, though. Does that buy me any cred out there?
I'm glad to hear that you're nicer in person. I'll be bringing the fam. I no longer have virgin ears, but they do.
I met up with 7Schulz last night. He's really a pretty cool guy. It turns out we drive identical trucks (okay.... my wife drives an identical truck...) and live about 200 yards away from each other. Let the flaming begin......

Weather does not matter. I will be camping Friday and Saturday. I should get there between 7-7:30 Illinois time. I can pitch in some food, but have no room to bring a grill. Who all wants to pitch in food Friday or Saturday?

I will have 2 back seats open if aren't any more fun rigs to ride in

EDIT: 7-7:30 PM on Friday

I'll be arriving about 7-730 Friday and Staying Saturday Night. I'm willing to pitch in some food too if we get something together. Might have room for one or two back seat passengers.

Its official, I have one passenger (front) seat.

Even if it rains....the badlands is mostly sand based, and doesnt get muddy, except a little bit on Orange. Which is usually our afternoon trail. So the quarry, green, river, etc.... are all sandy and in the morning.

....nevermind....

;)

I'd really like to go but pulled a rather large chuck of pinion gear out of my front diff, Sparkie and Carl can vouch for this. Do you guys think it would be safe to bring the rig and wheel it some and not get me stranded with an immobile vehicle that needs to be flatbeded home? I'm thinking if I have too much torque and snap another tooth or two I will be hosed.

No. Do not wheel on a broken pinion.

As someone who does all kinds of things I shouldnt, I must say you are working overtime to win the darwin award!!

I cant beleive you think you should still be driving around on a blown r&p....fawkin scary lack of logic man!

Well then run it- but be prepared to pull the front driveshaft and the drive slugs to limp it home.

I plan to be at Summers Friday and Saturday night for camping/passing out. I don't have a passenger yet, but all interested parties can start their bidding now :D

The more you talk the higher the bid should be.....correct?
