Anyone fitted cable lockers to a 40?

The OEM levers on the 60-series allow for the rear lever to be pulled independently of the front lever; however, pulling the front lever also engages the rear. I'm assuming the 70-series levers are the same? I like how the 70-series levers are a bit more compact. Is it feasible to mount the 70-series levers under the dash along the side of the cowl or does that interfere with using the accelerator & brakes?

The 70 series bracket is about 7" long and 4" wide. It won't mount under the dash on the drivers side because of the pedals and the fuse box.

You are correct on the interlock for the 70 series.

I'm trying to figure out how to mount my 60-series levers.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've spent some time pondering where they might fit, but I think I'm going to have to fab a much narrower bracket for the pulls. Look forward to hearing your ideas/solution.

I'm exploring using the hand brake opening in the 79+ tub & moving the hand brake underneath the dash like the earlier tubs.

Mine are going into an '82 eventually (still in the early stages of a frame off), so we're dealing the same interior layout. I hadn't thought of moving the brake lever. Of course there's no room under there for the big Rube Goldberg mechanism, so how will you deal with the fact that the levers will be moving at right angles to the cables?

There a little bit of space next to the driver's left hip that might work with a custom bracket, though I'd prefer them mounted vertically aside the front heater, but I don't have the tub near me right now to do actual measurements to see if there's really enough space there.

Yeah it's tough to find a good spot on a 40 series. My main thing was being able to operate the levers easily while on rough trails. That plus just finding an unobstructed spot to pass into the cabin pretty much dictated the location for me.

I didn't have mine hooked up for year two and I got kind of tired of crawling under the truck to engage them.
