Anyone ever had a time belt break?

My 100 was born and raised in the Phoenix area. Did our at 127K, using the inspection guildlines of the FSM I could have put in back in if it wasn't for the mileage. I waited till 127K because the research I found showed the WP failing around 120-125K. That is not to say you should wait ...YMMV:)
What year is that on? I'm at 87k on a 2001 so I have to make this decision soon, risk old parts failing vs new parts failing plus installer errors.

1999 100 series

11-29-07 129892 Timing belt, Idler pully, Cam tentioner x 2, Water pump, Coolant, Serpentine belt, T-stat, Oil change, Air filter

Today 149K ...10,000 is 4 years

Correction TB done at ~130k

That's useful data, thanks, the age is the thing that makes me worry I'd be a fool not to change it soon.

The FSM states if the TB comes in contact with oil or water it should be changed. So I would change the the WP at the same time no matter age or mileage. One of my tentioner pulleys was slightly rough so I changed both I dont believe they would of made it another 130K.

I have personally seen it happen. 2004 Lexus LX470, black. Had 204k miles on it when it happened it and the valves blew as well. The person it happened to had to order a new motor from Japan. Since he knew absolutely nothing about cars, he over paid as well.

It's also the black LX470 in the picture under my name.

204K on the "original" TB?

12 years and 175k miles and still counting on original timing belt... Keep prayin it doesn't break on me! Oil changes and a new starter have gotten me this far

When do you plan to have it changed?

When do you plan to have it changed?

That's a good question...when college funds allow I guess :meh:. Probably end of next semester, I'm not doin a whole lot of long commuting or anything till then, so I should be good

Does the type of driving you do have an effect on belt life? I would guess steady highway miles would be easiest so to speak...

Sure. The amount of revolutions your TB makes can vary dramatically depending on your driving type.

Typos sent from my HTC EVO using the IH8MUD app...
