Yeah I read that thread but it was from 2014 just wondering if any has tried since then. I read some threads about people talking about going but don’t know if they ever did.I often fantasize about taking my LX on the Rubicon, and I still may some day, but there's a thread on here that is really discouraging me.
Rubicon tips for 200 series
I’m just wondering not that I’m ready to do it, I have a lot of mods to do before I even think of trying. Just seems like a challenge that I’m surprised no one has tackled yet.I have done the Rubicon in my 80. The only area that would concern me is between the Little sluice and getting to the Bridge. You go through a maze of trees and rocks and it gets real tight width wize there. We had to have a couple of people push on the roofs of a few 80's to miss hitting the tree as you angle around a rock. Maybe there is another path there or it has changed since I did it in 2008.
Cadillac hill getting out also has one real tight spot, but think with spotting a 200 could do that
The thing about the Rubicon isnt the obstacles necessarily, but that it is constant obstacles over a few days. There are a couple you need good spotting and skills to get over, but comparable to ones you likely do on other trails
That’s disheartening is it just because if the big rocks? Everyone always talks about it being able to go everywhere. You think the wheelbase is a big factor? Why would you bring a 200 to an 80 trail
Seriously though I’ve run the rubicon in the 80 and I can say that I personally would never consider running it in the 200...

Have you done it ? You got pics it be cool if you didTo prove a 200 can do it... lol
I've got a lot of locals trying to get me a to purchase an 80 again and build that, but I find joy in trying to keep up in a 200

Man so down to try too hit me up when you do hopefully I’ll have my mods done also , I’m in a Facebook group and they’re planning on going next June I don’t think I’ll be ready by then.In a few years I will. I'm still building the 200 up. But I still like to wheel it and see how far I can push it before the mods pile on

Does that mean the 200 is a little fat for the Rubicon ? Lol
Awww, don't let anyone squash your dreams, myself included. There's no doubt a 200 can make it, that's not a question. But in a relative world, and having choices in my driveway, I'd do it again in the 80 in a heartbeat. Biggest factors for me personally: Limited tire size and lift height on the 200 are the most difficult to overcome for me. For somebody else, maybe not so much. Lockers and armor will lessen the pain too. That’s disheartening is it just because if the big rocks? Everyone always talks about it being able to go everywhere. This is a poor quality video of our 2008 Rubicon trip. It is long. They deleted the audio because I had music in there. It starts with a commercial I thought was funny. They keep saying buger when something bad happens then a photo collage followed by merged video from 4 different cameras I got from other participants. The part I was discussing above starts at 1:30 ( yes 1 hour and 30 minutes). It is the whole trail though. I am the gold LX450 with the tan small RTT on the roof
