Well part of the issue may be dirty beads leaking air. But the real thing that I can't stand is that the relation of the tire bead to the bead seating area has got to be 20-30 deg. I totally agree with running a narrower rim to help keep from debeading but that angle seems like it'd be counter-productive especially at lower pressures. Seems to me that physics would dictate that the bead will tend to want to be at the same angle of the sidewall. Therefore the sidewall will constantly be "trying" to pull the bead out of it's "seat". This would be exponentially worse at trail pressures... in theory. When you say they won't cut it....what do you mean? I have run 16" wide tires on 10" rims many, many times. In fact, I prefer them when non-beadlocked.
Damn I'd love to go to dual ARB's from a single if I had the cash right now. Good luck; somebody will probably grab it up quick.A good friend of mine has a brand new arb he wants to git rid of. He is asking $450. Can bring to the meeting tomorrow if anyone is interested.
... in theory.
Jordan, really? You're getting careless my friend. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're asking, the title says for Toyota 8".Rob, what will that fit?
Thanks for the knowledge guys. I've always used ~4" as my rule of thumb. I guess it's just a matter of if you can get it on there or not. Guess I'll bite the bullet and dismount, clean, and remount and see where that gets me.I use real world experience and it's taught me many times to use narrower wheels on stupid wide tires. Never lost a bead on them either! Even had a set of 13" wide tires on stock FJ80 15x7 wheels once....

One step ahead of ya, Steve...Jordan, really? You're getting careless my friend. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're asking, the title says for Toyota 8".![]()

Not many places have ever even heard of it. But obscure parts places will have it.
He has spoken!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The relationship you are looking for is about 70-75% of the tire width for on-road use. 70% would be about 11.2". A 10" wheel with 16" tires would be 62.5% which is fine. I, too, prefer narrow wheels for my off road use.
Thanks for the words of confidence Eric. I absolutely value experience over all else and am glad to know people with said experience.I know you are just as much a tire whore as I am, that's why I know you know right from wrong backed by exprience.
Clean them beads. And go buy Bead Sealer.... It's a black substance that gets slathered on the beadand then dries. Not many places have ever even heard of it. But obscure parts places will have it.
I was gonna say "or Google it" but I kinda thought you woulda said you'd done that in your response but you didn't. Figured you were more informed than you let on to.One step ahead of ya, Steve...
Google ARB RD111, and it's not for the mini 8". So, I'm asking exactly what it fits. Google shows: Known applications for RD111:
2004 on Toyota Landcruiser Prado, 4.10:1 ratio
That's why I ask in hopes he has a solid answer on application. You could've bought it and never got it to setup properly in your mini-truck.
Cover your bases, Steve![]()
Well there ya have it. Does everyone agree that this is good enough for a "final say"? hahaThe relationship you are looking for is about 70-75% of the tire width for on-road use. 70% would be about 11.2". $50 each if anyone wants one, lemme know....
Still interested in a pair of these.
I'm working through the list. Had a stupid amount of interest and even had a hiccup. Tax and Paypal fees... Since I'm not making any money off these, I have to charge $60 to cover the "in state tax" when buying them from them and then paypal fees...
I think I have your PM. When I get there, I'll let you know.
FYI, I was given 12 the first round, but I think they all have homes. I was told that they'll have more at some point.
