Anybody want a 63 FJ40 FST project ??????

I bought this little 40 earlier in the year but the reality is that I'll never get to it, no matter how much I'd live to have an early bone stock 40 as a shop truck.

As far as we know, it's been in northern CA it's entire life. I don't have the title but I have all the contact info to get it.

Will need complete resto!!!! It will run if you tinker with it for an hour. Brakes are non existent. All the FST stuff is there and in good shape except for the canvas.
Very little rust, original paint and a couple of dents and dings.
Comes with a complete factory PTO and a complete 1972 F engine, 3spd and t-case ( all in great working order but not installed; the engine in the cruiser runs too ).
There are a bunch of other random parts for it in the back.

Somebody please take this off my hands and restore or restomod it!!!!

Are you sure she's a '63 FST and not a '64 FST? Looks like a '64 to me...

I know. Large rear fender openings and no stamped bezel. But iirc the vin said its a 63. Will check.

So tempting Georg. I would empty the inside, open the hood and take some quality pictures. My guess is if it is a 63 it's a later one. This one did not have a stamped bezel because the Toyota emblem in the grill. It also has the latch to hold the windshield up not the stud and nut like the earlier one. Can't tell but it may have the earlier seat frame. What is the shape of the toolbox. Rectangle or the one with the angle cut. Because of the Toyota emblem I'm guessing it came with he later three speed. Does the engine serial number under the hood match the one on the VIN plate? Rear sill, how bad is the rust if any? So tempting.

I made an appointment at the local DMV to get a title for it. shouldn't be a problem since I have the bill of sale.....

Interesting...just a couple thousand before mine. Looks like a summer '63 build. Did the vin start with a 3 or a 4?
Would be cool to find another '63 FST with a higher vin number to compare.

So if this is a June"ish" '63 FST, then it would be even more interesting to find a '63 FST with a higher vin number, and try to narrow down when the old FST tub ended...

I'd be interested because it would be very close to my '64 HT...but add shipping, customs, duties, and stuff, and this 3K truck turns in an almost 6K truck...

Thank you. It's got a ton of potential, that's why I bought it originally. I'm selling it for $3k because that's what I have into it considering the $2k purchase price, finding a complete PTO as well as the good running power train.

Not trying to make a buck on this, just needs a new home.

There lies the main reason for me not purchasing this cruiser. Currently have dozen 25/40/45 cruisers. Half of which are older then this one. It is a great base for a restore. Someone getting a good deal.
