Not wanting to spend crazy money on led headlights but also desperately need to upgrade. Any recommendations?
The ones I'm looking at
ebay lights

No comment on the lights, but ... Eureka, California. Lived there circa 2011 and haven't thought about that place in a long time. Don't see people from there too often either. No I wasn't in "the industry" haha. One of the most beautiful areas of this big old country.

never seen those, they might be okay...but might be $hit, you never know. I used Truck-Lite LEDs and I really like them. I have cheap/generic amazon LEDs for the highbeams.

Thanks yeah it really is a special area. Born and raised here and I still love it. Since the “industry” has gone legal now everything is different, for better or worse 🤷🏾

Curious how legit their cutoff pattern is lol

Great review of these lights. I believe that soon I will try out the 7 inch Holly Retrobrights for my 60.

Rather expensive at $214 on Amazon but this guy really likes them and he seems legit. Once I get them I will report back…BUT if anyone here has experienced these lights please let me know.🎯

EDIT: see my post #13…$428, not $214.

EDIT #2: this guy is testing his own company’s headlights. He’s a good presenter but not an unbiased presenter.

Well they took my $100 offer. Guess we will see how they work out. Will update when I get them

Hello John, I have the Holley retrobrights on my 75. I did a short review here with night shots, see link below. My 60 has the Koito upgrade with Diode Dynamics bulbs. Once I have the 60 back from Kelly, I will do a side by side comparison. Also, if you are coming to SASx this year, I'll have both trucks there and you can check them out yourself :)

Post # 298 has the images and a short review of the retrobrights:

Perfect @DrRock thanks for the info & yes we can touch base @ SAS10.

If I go with the Retrobrights I’m going to try to make a decision soon.

Ok…wow! Now I have to really do some head scratching. I did a bit more research & was about to pull the trigger on these Amazon Holly RetroBrights and then realized the $214 price tag is for ONE headlight, yes…ONE & only ONE. $428 for both headlights.
More thinking required.😛🤷‍♂️😛

Yes, that's why I went with the Koito route on the 60 and just upscaled the bulbs. My 75 came with the Holley lights already so it will be a good comparison. If you already have reflectors that can take an H4 bulb this is a cheaper option, see link below. They also run sales from time to time. No affiliation, just a happy customer.

Just be happy you have a 60, not a 62 😂

James, how's the cutoff on those inside of a Koito housing? I think the color temp doesn't look right, the beam patterns in halogen housings get too scattered, and most have big cooling fins that don't fit. The Diode Dynamics you linked to WILL fit though...

@DrRock so James just to be certain and before I go spend big $$ on 2 light bulbs 🙉, this is what you did on your 60:

A) used the H4 SL2 Pro led bulbs
B) in to the Koito housing
C) the bulbs fit w/o modifications
D) you are pleased with the results
E) total of 2 bulbs & each bulb has hi & low beams

Thanks James

Related : I just had the Torfab LED headlights installed in my FJ62 (rectangular). I've been happy with the upgrade and clean cut-off so far...https://torfab.com/product/torfab-fj62-led-lights-4x6-kit/

I wasn’t a big fan of the shiny look of those but I definitely considered. Not to mention $350 bucks was more than I wanted to spend at the moment.

Hello John,
A. Yes, I used the Diode Dynamics H4 SL2 Pro bulbs
B. Use in the Koito factory kit housing
C. Happy with the results and have good cutoff on low beam and a nice pattern on high beam
D. Correct, plus they just fit right in to the Koito housing, no modification required.

@CruiserTrash I was fine with the colour temp but I know this is subjective.

Hoping to see both of you at SASx this summer and if you’re on the fence, you’re welcome to take my 60 for a spin at night to see if you like this setup, same with the 75 as we’ll have both there.

Cheers, James
