@Mr Wonderful Funny, "R"s are ALL I seem to find here (big and small). The older ones are very nice!

How can you tell???Another nice find. Looks like it started its life at Boeing.
Ok thanks! Ya Boeing isn’t too far from me. I remember my dad went to that surplus store a few times. I was always upset that I never got to go with him. It sounded like an amazing place.BAC = Boeing Airplane Company. It's an equipment number.
Boeing used to have a surplus store where you could buy things like vises.

Yep, missing swivel base. At $100, I had no problem with that!@ewillis That is a great find! R series Reeds are fantastic tools. You are missing the swivel base as the 106 of this era would have a 4 hole base. !06 = fixed base 6" 206 = swivel base 6" 306 = 6" filing vise 406 = 6" swivel base and swivel jaw vise
It's because that dynamic jaw would fit either model. I believe one is a swivel base and one is a fixed base. The dynamic jaw is the same casting.my Prentiss Bulldog says 93 on one side and 53-93 on the other. What does the latter mean if you know?
I landed this Prentiss 54 for a smokng deal! I've been wanting a graffiti logo bulldog forever. This one has a repair on it but I don't care. The previous owner restored it for me lol. Now it has been assimilated into the larger "borg" of vises waiting to be finished.
