You guys are awesome.

So I have the complete FOR gen 2 kit, landtank caster plates, landtank DIY joints for the panhards, and landtank rear lca's so I can properly stuff the 37's I will get soon. I am thinking it is probably too much to do all that at the same time? Plus the DIY joints require cutting the existing panhards then welding in the joint so they are adjustable.

I will post up when it all arrives but I will have to do it on a Saturday or Sunday most likely. Otherwise after work M-F.

Im hoping the date will fall on my weekend off.
Would love to observe/learn/give a hand on some wrenching - looks like I might have some slightly used front J springs in my future. I might be looking on how to properly install caster plates.

I have the caster plates put in. Fairly easy process. I have slees but think landtanks are a better option. The slees require a little cutting and i believe landtanks don't. You can see exactly how they go on when you pick up your springs.

Landtank's casters are nice but they are a lot of work. No cutting but the drilling of the relocated holes are not as fun as John Bull. Took me 2 hours to completely finish two holes - that's for one bolt - and this is the easiest one to access.:bang: They make it look easy in the instructions. I do not know how I will get to the passenger side.:hhmm: I will need a smaller close quarter drill. Does anyone have one I can borrow?:o Bought one from HFreight and it is not small enough. I don't think I want to spend more ca$$ on another drill.

What kind of drill do you need?? I have a right angle drill if that would help..

Milwaukee right angle drill, this is what landtank recommends, I thought any right angle would do, but the one I got from HF is a bit bulkier and can not properly align both holes. Note the top of the drill, the one i am using, the drill hits part of the frame - gets in the way. Need a drill with a lower profile. The drill below is what I got from HF, if i could flatten the profile another 1/4 inch, I could get the pilot hole done....

I can swing by after work (t,w,or th). I want to check out sean's bumper too. Let me know.

Thanks to calfj60, got the right tool for the job. Had to grind that bracket about 1/8", it was getting in the way. After finishing the 1/2" hole, did not realize that the 5/8" drill bit I had is a 1/2" shank. Called around today and could not score a 5/8" drill bit with a 3/8" shank. Will find one tomorrow. Thanks Calfj60.

kovsky, come by on Wednesday, that will work 4 me

I ordered his last complete set this morning so it looks like it is about a week away from arriving to me. I have yet to hear from landtank either.

Soon to be for sale:

  • stock replacement bilsteins with 3500 miles on them
  • brand new unused OME 861/862 .5" lift springs (totally changed my mind here obviously)
  • stock running boards
  • (5) stock 16" 40'th rims with Nitto Terragrapler 295's (70% tread)

Well, I left two voice mails and 1 email last week for Frankie and no word back. So maybe I should start collecting all the stuff you guys are selling and piece together a lift?

I spoke with Frankie yesterday and he is waiting on rear springs so my kit ships out next wed. So it is looking like Saturday November 20 to install.

Any volunteers to host? I am in an apartment with no driveway and no outside parking here in HB... I'll bring my tools and pick up the food and beverages.

Let me check with the mrs.... But I might be around and if so we could use my shop assuming you are willing to drive to Torrance.. Can't be a whole lotta help cause I m still recovering from second knee surgery but will do what I can...

That is very generous of you. Absolutely willing to drive over there. Let me know how things play out. I am more than happy to do all the wrenching, just need some advice and tips from the folks with more wrenching experience than me.

Thanks for the tips KimoSabe! Appreciate you spending the time showing me your setup.

Keep us updated when you decide to do this. I just installed my FOR springs with basic hand tools. Huntington isnt too far for me and I go up to LA a lot on the weekends. Maybe I can swing by and lend a hand.

If you decide to come to Tim's shop in Torrance, I'd definitely stop by and gawk/drool, maybe even get hands dirty if needed!

Sounds cool. Dan.

Any excuse to go back to the South Bay is a good one. Please keep me posted on when you fellas are meeting up. I can lend a hand, bring beer, talk story or whatever. Maybe you guys can help me isolate a few things with the rig.
