Hi, haven't posted much at all but have had the itch to mod after getting a taste of some off roading recently in the LC and am going all out now.

I am ordering the FOR kit this week and wanted to know if I can get some locals to assist me in installing it? I am in a 1-car garage so I need to do it 'somewhere' and I could sure use the advice and help of people that have done it before (in other words not incompetent like me!). I'd cover lunch and beverages of course!

I am in Huntington Beach.

have you got the tools? jack stands and floor jack? maybe its time we OC guys get together and wrench!

Depending on day and time, I am willing to help out. I am at the LA/OC border.

Yeah, I have tools a large floor jack and 2 stands. Do we need any unusual tools? I have a standard 283 piece craftsman set and some misc extra tools.

i'll help you put the springs on my rig:D
I see, kind of like a quality tester right? :D

I am calling frankie today!

Yeah, getting the landtank plates.

Just spoke to Frankie yesterday about the rumored 2.5" - it doesn't exist yet. Maybe I should pull the plug and we can do two installs - a group event!!!

The more I look, the more I like the FOR setup.

Yes, I have been reading about various lifts for the last 12 months and decided to go with FOR. I am copying NAY although I think will go with KM2 37" tires. Frankie will set up the springs/valving for you based on how much weight you have on the rig. Great guy too.

A group event would be cool! I'll buy the food and drinks.

I ordered his last complete set this morning so it looks like it is about a week away from arriving to me. I have yet to hear from landtank either.

Soon to be for sale:

  • stock replacement bilsteins with 3500 miles on them
  • brand new unused OME 861/862 .5" lift springs (totally changed my mind here obviously)
  • stock running boards
  • (5) stock 16" 40'th rims with Nitto Terragrapler 295's (70% tread)

Depending on what weekend I'll help. I just did my buddies hundy... Torsion bars, shocks & springs...

I have a 20 lb air compressor, 1/2 drive impact, metric impact sockets, 3/8 air rachet and assorted hand tools....

Scotty

This is funny how this has come up. I was just telling the :princess: Friday that I needed some shocks. Her response was why don't you just get your lift now so you don't have to go in a second time and then try to sell 1 year old shocks. Ummmm HELLLL YEAHHHHH!!!

I have always been dead set on the FOR lift but was always worried about the hassle with the drive shafts, steering stabilizers & castor plats. Now that I saw that thread about the 2"-2.5" springs he may come out with I am all over it!! So anyway I left him a mesg. yesterday and hopefully the shorter springs will happen shortly before the :princess: changes her mind.....

Just talked to him today and the 2.5 won't be here anytime soon. He's working on it though.

Bummer..... Well now I guess I will have to talk to him myself and see what I want to do. Maybe just replacing the U joints and getting castor plates will work out for me. Or I could go the route of cutting the springs like one of the other forum members.

I live in Huntington Beach and can help you with your install. I've got FOR G1's with Slee plates. You've probably seen me around, JAFW80.

I also have a spare rear Slee's SS brake line if you're interested, $25.

I have air tools, if you need them.

More and more willing to help, this is great! Schedule a wrench day/evening when you are ready. Would be a good meet/eat/drink and wrench opportunity.
