No EDIC. You have a fuel solinoid...

Much nicer...Use it as one of your methods.

What is this? sounds interesting? Anybody have a link?

I have a kill switch that isolates the ignition circuit, If I am really worried I take the trany shifter and the coil wire with me.

That way if I see something going down I cant beat them with the shift lever
:grinpimp:

I know there was talk about a shift lock on the DTLC years ago..with a link. I think it was a European company that was making it.

A pedal club can be purchased anywhere. I have not looked into what it would take to make a bracket that could include both the clutch and brake. That would be a pain for anything except a tow truck to get around...

The good shift lock was by Multilock, I believe. An isreali company if I'm not mistaken. I'll bet its on WJ Markerink's site if someone wants to look for it.

The reason I don't like the club, is because in less then two seconds cutting through your steering wheel with a hack saw its off and in the back seat. too much money for that kind of anti theft device JMO.

Have faith Eric. Your LandCruiser has a rolled steel inner. It will take more then 2 seconds to hacksaw through. Your chest won't like it in a frontal collision though.

As Greg stated below on the edic. I do not have the manual for this engine. Soon Eric will. He can pick thru the wiring and let you know.

Kill Switches are good. OIl PX(pressure) sw(switch).

sorry for the short hand. Hard for some I am sure.

No problem. I am learning as I go. Thanks for all the help.

Since I got a solar battery minder thingy that says not to use it while car is running I've been thinking of putting in a 3 position switch- up for solar, middle for nothing, down for 'run' which would energize the start circuit.

Seems like it would work and remind me to turn off the darn solar thingy while also being an obvious, yet 'hidden' kill switch.

sounds good to me. dual purpose :)

If your cruiser is ever towed, get your ham licence and ...

I dont know how many words I can put in the title bar but as I was saying study for your USA or canada ham licence and then once you pass start by buying a gps with serial data out a TNC and a 2 meter ham radio. You may need to have a elder put it all together with you. The system is Called APRS or automatic postion reporting system. Mount everything in a hidden location and arm the equipment with the ignition off. As soon as the truck is started it will supply power to these items and will start sending out a Lat/Long location and if its in the city you can spot it on a street map like one of findu.com links. I plan on putting mine on my cruiser.

BTW the wire to the edac where is that? That would make for a good hidden switch.

installed my solar/kill yesterday. I tapped into the "engine" fuse's wire (yellow) right behind the fuse box. The switch isn't hidden at all, but will be marked "Solar". When up, it connects the small battery minder solar panel, when down, it allows the engine to run.

If I start the truck with the solar engaged, it'll turn over, then die within a second or two. Otherwise it runs normally.

As a nice reminder for me- if the switch it turned off, the dash lights (brake, water in fuel) don't come on when I glow.

Really simple to install- you could run the switch anywhere and have it be much more hidden.

do you really want to leave this posted to the web?
just curious...

Fair question, Wayne. I thought about that a little... but then came to the conclusion that the number of people who are likely to have internet access, read english, and be physically located in Tamarindo... is relatively small. Add to that the much much smaller proportion who are inclined and able to steal a 20 year old landcruiser instead of the dozens of newer, more expensive and more generic vehicles around, and I think (hope) that it shouldn't be a problem.

Besides- when the truck is parked in a "sketchy" situation (anywhere in the City!) I also use the Mul-T-Lok which is pretty darn difficult to defeat.

Mul-T-lock, what is that exactly?

I havin't looked to hard, but I wish I could find a Canadain source for the, pedal lock
