While trying to diagnose a non-functioning antenna and an unlit antenna, hazard, and rear defrost switch, I pulled the dash to check for continuity and voltage in a few wires and connectors. Per the FSM section attached (page BE-121), connector #2 should be the ground. However, when I pulled the switch, there seems to be no #2 wire or connector. As far as I can tell, the harness looks original and I can't find any loose or homeless wires.

Should I replace this section of the harness? Is there a chance that this wire is intentionally missing?

Can you post the relevant page from the Lexus EWD? That way we can verify that there actually should be a wire in connector position #2. Also, this is one of the areas that are different between the Lexus and Land Cruiser and so the FZJ80 EWD won't do (the LC only uses 3 wires in that connector).

This the A29 connector from a 1997 LX450. Im assuming the "X" means no wire.

So you can see in the EWD you supplied that pins 3, 4 and 5 of A29 are relevant to antenna control, and pin #4 (the white wire with black tracer) is ground. In the picture above the "X" means an unoccupied position and the dots mean occupied positions but not applicable to the current circuit. In this case the dots refer to the switch illumination circuit and you'll find those in the illumination section of the EWD.

The test procedure for connector A29 on page BE-121 of the FSM appears just plain wrong to me (not the first error I've seen in the FSM either). Between pin #4 and ground should show continuity (= low ohms on a multimeter). Between pin #3 and ground, and between pin #5 and ground may show 12v when the ignition key is in the ACC position, but this is only an educated guess since those pins are connected directly to the auto antenna ECU and the EWD does not show the circuitry inside of the ECU.

I take back what I said about the LX450 wiring being different than the FZJ80 wiring for the antenna control. Although the connectors have different numbers (LX450 = A29 and FZJ80 = A21), the wiring and wire colors are the same.

Incredibly helpful! Thanks so much! Back to the multimeter.

@madisonr34 for future reference, where was this page located? EWD? FSM?

My antenna switch is not working and no illumination, did you figure out what was wrong with yours ??

My mast is broken but the motor runs when you start the engine and runs when you turn off the engine, so I'm not sure why my switch will not work ??

Disassamble power antena button just two weeks ago.
Use 2 of OEM that buttons to make a wind\spool for my winches.

Button have all 6 contact.
Corner pins are for the illumination.
2,3,4,5 for control.
In my wiring I have all 6 contacts on the plug. I remember it because for winching I dodnt need one pin in the plug and have to
take it out. So left only 5.
I have LC, not lexus.
