I wish I had thought about/ knew about those hinges when I did mine!

Great job! I made a set last spring, and posted them up..your carpentry skills are a lot better than mine! Nice work.

What size / length bolts did you use?

1/2" bolt/nut, u bolts were 2.5" deep if i remember right. They need to be about an inch shorter, but couldn't find that combination. I wound up cutting off the excess with a hacksaw after i bolted them up, then backing off the nut to smooth out the threads. Worked great.

Wow, awesome job! This thread definitely renews my motivation to do the same project. I've been putting it off for too long and really could use the drawer storage on wheelin/campin trips.

Any pics of the box mounting of the U-bolts to the third row mounts?

Turned out great. I don't have any need for anything like this at this time....but this is what I would want mine built like were I in the market for some!

Thank you. Gives me a starting point for hardware.

Im doing this but with only one sub. So I will have 2 different length drawers. Well, actually, there are a couple different ways I may go about it.
1.) do it the same way you did with the hatch in the back but it would only be one hatch since I will have a sub.
2.)One hatch with one big huge drawer which could help free up some space since there will not be a divide.
3.) having the the top of the drawer system(new floor) puts on tracks so the entire floor can be slid out making it easier to get whats on top.

I have a question on the rear A/C vent in the back. What are the results of covering it up? Can't be good.

seeing the amount of gear I end up packing back there on trips with out drawers... I would think adding drawers would have zero affect on it if not making things better.

Latest Changes

Decided to finally reconfigure my drawer system to accept a home-made fridge slide for my ARB 50qt.

Bought another set of slides identical to the ones i used for the drawers, so that i could just remove the drawer and insert the slide without any tools or modifications to the unit.

Turned out pretty good i think. After purchasing a little more ply, the ARB fridge tie-down kit, etc, the fridge slide ran me about $75.

First pic is the BEFORE pic, drawer system as originally built.

Second pic shows the first step in the modification...I removed the top of the system and cut the plywood in half, then removed some of the rear facing trim. I then cut a new top piece for the right side, adding a jut-out on the front that mimics what the front facing trim used to look like.

Finally, I wrapped each of the new pieces back in felt. The left piece i screwed back down, but the right piece is easily removeable depending on whether i have the drawer or the fridge slide in. Third pic shows both tops wrapped and in place. If you look close, you can see the seam between the two top halves.

Moving on...

First pic shows how the right top piece lifts up and out.

Second pic is with the top removed, exposing the drawer below.

Final pic shows the drawer removed from the sytem with the slides extended.

finally...

Finally, the final product.

Fridge In / Fridge Out.

Overall couldn't be happier with this. Takes 5 minutes to switch from the drawer to the fridge slide.
