Another door speaker install (6.5's all around)

Picked up a pair of Pioneer TS-G1643R's

After installing one in the driver door, I pulled the left rear door panel off to see how much space I had to work with back there

With the 4" OEM bracket removed, there was just enough room to mount the other 6.5" in there, so i went out and picked up another set for the passenger side

The fronts used the OEM retaining clips with slightly longer screws, but I had to drill 3 new holes for each of the rears

The sound is MUCH better than stockers and best of all, my insurance company picked up the tab for 1 pair

Search Front door speaker upgrade. This is what I went with too. Makes a world of difference compared to stock speakers.

Gets me all excited. Gonna work together with a buddy whos a professional stereo installer, owns the business too. I fixie his housie, he fixie my ride. Not gonna go all out by any means, just gotta figure out where to place the amps. Nice install on the speakers, bet it sounds more better.

Thanks for the links. While I was out the past hour at BestBuy I thought I would see what speakers they have. Sadly they had these same speakers for $70. I think I will be ordering from online where I saw them at $50. Looks like another item on the list after I get the head and HG work done.

To Install the rear passenger one's must we really drill holes? I don't wanna do that, is there any way around that, maybe other speakers?

I really like that the front is plug and play...

Thanks for the links. While I was out the past hour at BestBuy I thought I would see what speakers they have. Sadly they had these same speakers for $70. I think I will be ordering from online where I saw them at $50. Looks like another item on the list after I get the head and HG work done.

They're only $54.99 at my local BestBuy and my insurance covered $60 for the first pair

Drilling is required with these speakers as the holes don't line up, however, it's not as bad as it may sound

It was actually much easier to drill the holes in the rear than it was to line up the holes for the retainer clips up front

I snipped the wiring from the OEM speakers and soldered them onto the new ones

I did this same thing also and had to drill various holes to secure them all but sounds great with my new Pioneer HU

The rear inner door frames need to be trimmed to install almost all oversized speakers. I used a nibbler bought from harbor freight for 6 bucks or so. It looks like the speakers used above are super low profile. My Kenwood 6.5s are supposed to be low profile but i still had to enlarge the orifice in the door frame even though i was top-mounting them on the door panel.

Perfect that sonic electronix is right next door

You can limit the cutting in the rear door by using a spacer. I have Alpines with a ring all painted a complimentary color, the amount you limit the cutting is completely dependent on the speaker depth though.

I didn't have to do ANY trimming with these

I'm using a Sony XAV-W1 HU and running them directly (yanked factory amp)

The only amps I'm using are for the subs and center channel

Jaja, thank you so much. I'm and just bought a tool set last week 154 pc from craftsman for $60 awesome deal! (I've never had one tool before just a 19.99 set from auto zone ), I need to stop paying for mechanics to fix my car. Now I see more tools I need to increase collection.
