Awww...You suck. Lol! Now I know why you haven't been up. You want to drive that thing.

You just make it look too easy. We all watch you and think, "Wow, it only takes that long?". Meanwhile, it's taking me weeks to build an engine.

Very nice dude... wish I had a garage like that (let alone a wife that would be willing to help, who knows maybe she will!)... Hopefully you watched your flash times on the primers, but with only having a couple sags you seem like you were pretty good.

I had a time window and I took it. Also, playing the.."ITS FATHER'S DAY" card helped too... HA! Hope to see ya soon I-man.

Awesome Job man, how did you like the epoxy primer from Eastwood?

It laid down really nice.. I was kinda surprised for a 99.99 kit.

G, I love my shop. The wife is the BOMB.. helped me paper, tape and tack rag the cruiser too.. I waited 30 minutes between 1st and 2nd coat, 45 min between 2nd and 3rd coat. It sagged because I was trying to build up over a couple of the repair areas. I went over one to many times at too slow a pass. My bad... Like I said the sags are really small, one is about 4" long and the other even shorter. An easy 5 to 10 min repair.

Got home to a couple of packages.. FatMat sound deadener and my Toyota window seal weatherstripping. I'll post pics later.

The window seals are indeed black rubber for the exterior but, have the chrome strip for the interior . I rolled the dice hoping they would be solid black as well.

I figured when I saw Onur and Dan not having luck with the black only interior ones I would too. Anyhow, I got new ones inside and out. HAPPY HAPPY!

Time to get out the etching primer and satin black paint again. NO CHROME ALLOWED!!!

I was just thinking that our rigs would make beautiful babies... Little Betsy marleys and blue rosses..... :grinpimp:

Just posted this on another thread but, ordered my vacuum hose this afternoon from:

http://boostcontroller.com/index.php?category=8

40'- of 3mm Blue @ .89 a ft

10'- of 5mm Blue @ 1.09 a ft

With shipping my order was 54.80.

This will do the entire vac system on a 85 FJ60.

Also, got my local parts gal to order me up a dryer and AC compressor as well. Don't need it quite yet but, the funds are available so why not have it on the ready when I have time to swap it out.

Well I let the epoxy cure for three days and I wasn't too happy.. Too many sanding scratches didn't get filled in.. I was afraid they would show thru on the basecoat so... I ran and got some urethane filler primer and shot 2 coats this afternoon. I will sand down with 400/600 and then reduce another epoxy coat for a sealer before I shoot the BC/CC...

This is how Blue Marley looks now.... But, I'm planning on shooting the basecoat this weekend..

Yeah, I need to reorder some red 3 and 5 mm - I ordered based on color coded systems but it looks a lil Mickey mouse the way I did mine, so all red it's gonna be...or maybe I'll just replace my yellow with white and have a red white and blue theme, since her name is Betsy Ross!

Cheers J - Marley looks awesome! Can I be first in line now if you ever need/want to sell her?? ;)

Wow definitely going to be a trail queen here soon! Are you sure you want to wheel her?!

Yeah it'll be ok G... After the first scratch it's all over with anyhow.. Ask Finny HA!

I posted previously that I had extra paint from a previous project.. I took it up to the local hardware store last night and asked them to shake it up for me... After 30 min on the shaker we took a look and I just didn't like the look of the mix. Something happened over time to the mix.. It looked like I was looking at it through a cloudy/dirty pair of glasses.

I don't know what happened to it. Anyhow, I called my local auto supply gal and she hooked me up with fresh stuff. It's not a top of the line paint but, for 240.00 my cost for 1 1/2 gallons of base/clear in Toyota 8B4--Night Blue Metallic... It'll be just fine. This is the same paint I used before BTW.. Nason DuPont Ful-Base w/ Nason DuPont Clear as well. Basically it's DuPont's fleet paint at 1/4 the price of the DuPont ChromaBase.

Spent the afternoon sanding down to 320 grit, wiping, blowing, tack ragged the whole cruiser.. I will do this a few more times before I spray. Will set up my fans and ventilation system as well.

Most epoxy primers want a 120 to 180 grit surface but, this Eastwood recommends a 320 to 400 grit surface.. So, that's what Blue Marley got.

My daughter and I will mask/tape off everything hopefully tomorrow and get the the primer down Friday and then the BC/CC shortly after.......... I HOPE!

Isnt the good stuff waterborn??? A bit harder to shoot with no air flow. The Nason is still good, its all about prep..

Man you are givin' me the itch to paint something soon... :grinpimp:

Yeah I hear ya Pete... I said it in a previous post on my build thread that I'd love to get a few of us together and just go crazy in the shop for a week or so..

Maybe one of these days between construction work projects...

So, I may fumble this a bit but, Yes, waterborne paints are the new standard thanks to EPA/OSHA, etc.. I think I read where 70-80% of all OEM paint jobs are waterbourne these days... Years ago we used solvent based paints for everything but, the VOC's are through the roof and are not too cohesive to the new safety standards. I still use lead based products in our industrial/oil & gas applications still today. They are nice to use... trailers frames etc...

Nason is the industrial/commercial version of DuPont's Chromobase and Clear line. It is thinner and in the past I usually have had to spray a full extra coat and also a drop coat to get it where I'm satisfied with the look (non-tiger stripe, and this is of course on metallics... ) I've never shot a solid from Nason. They say it is much easier.

But, for less than 250.00 for a complete BC/CC I'm not gonna complain.

If this was a cruiser/vehicle I was putting in a show...
#1 I wouldn't be laying down any of the work HA!
#2 I'd go with Dupont's Chromabase or high end PPG or another breed But 650.00 a gallon for Chromabase____OUCH! I'll stick with my Nason and not care too much about future damage.
