You're not coating the outside of your truck with bedliner where people can see it? Noooooooo! You think it is going to look good, but Nooooooooooo!

Just my opinion.

You're an animal. That work would take me two summers to do. Very nice work.

Just the bottom of the lower panels.. Lower body line only.. Between the rocks, sand, etc... It paint chips this area badly and with me gonna wheel this rig more why not a little extra protection down there..

Here's a pic of my idea...

(Thanks to 88chevota for the pirate picture)

That's how I like it, I don't like it when people follow the front line way up looks like **** that way, but that looks clean and uniform.

Exactly Snow, up over the fender is just too much IMO as well. I think it takes away from the cruiser myself. I understand why people do it that way, because it is easier to follow that hard body line. But, nothing a string line and some time with the masking tape can't handle...

That is an impressive amount of body work. Good work man, you have more patience than I do:cheers:

I posted previously that I had extra paint from a previous project.. I took it up to the local hardware store last night and asked them to shake it up for me... After 30 min on the shaker we took a look and I just didn't like the look of the mix. Something happened over time to the mix.. It looked like I was looking at it through a cloudy/dirty pair of glasses.

I don't know what happened to it. Anyhow, I called my local auto supply gal and she hooked me up with fresh stuff. It's not a top of the line paint but, for 240.00 my cost for 1 1/2 gallons of base/clear in Toyota 8B4--Night Blue Metallic... It'll be just fine. This is the same paint I used before BTW.. Nason DuPont Ful-Base w/ Nason DuPont Clear as well. Basically it's DuPont's fleet paint at 1/4 the price of the DuPont ChromaBase.

Spent the afternoon sanding down to 320 grit, wiping, blowing, tack ragged the whole cruiser.. I will do this a few more times before I spray. Will set up my fans and ventilation system as well.

Most epoxy primers want a 120 to 180 grit surface but, this Eastwood recommends a 320 to 400 grit surface.. So, that's what Blue Marley got.

My daughter and I will mask/tape off everything hopefully tomorrow and get the the primer down Friday and then the BC/CC shortly after.......... I HOPE!

Wooohoooo!!! Let's see some sexy marley!!!!

Well It doesn't look like I'll be priming this weekend. On the way in from work my Dodge loaded up the turbo... DPF is probably 99% plugged, so my Cummins mechanic buddy and I will be installing a delete kit and new SS exhaust to remedy this LITTLE PROBLEM instead of working on the cruiser this weekend.

What a PITA!!! It never fails!!

Wyoming, this may push me back another week before I get to Jackson but, I'll get up there I promise.

Dis, Yeah just looks like I've been busy. I wish I had two weeks to just completely knock all the work out and be done for a bit.

It gonna look good!

Interesting way to paint the jambs and doors. Didn't think about masking it that way

Thanks Kline, I decided against taking the doors completely off to paint the jambs. I painted an old Chevy II Nova like this in my hotrod days. Turned out pretty good.

this cruiser is going to look great!

Thanks 89 I hope he looks good when I'm done. I'm not going for show quality or anything. Just a cool and good looking cruiser.

oh yeah!I am sure it is. all that time you are putting in on sanding it will. the key to a great paint job is the prep. it is just the right way to do it. pull glass and hardware!

Just like doing stuff in the IT work and Project Management in general... spend 80% of your time planning/prepping and 20% implementing. That way you account for all possible risk scenarios and are ready for just about anything..

You have an amazing shop there to be doing all this work. Can't wait to find my cruiser and start taking her apart. Might have to get my paint "professionally" done as I am sure they wifey wouldn't like having spray marks inside our small expanded 1-car garage.

Thanks G,

The shop is all MINE!! It's my little man cave.. Well, 1400 sq ft isn't a little man cave I suppose but, it works great for my needs and a few to spare most days.

Yep I knew I shouldn't have made mention of arising issues. I've just been told my 3 day weekend is now a 1 day weekend. #@!* I can't win lately..

Well there must be a reason for my bad karma lately??? I'll get Blue done one of these days...

I'll keep ya posted.

I think it has to do with the weather. the nicer the weather, the more people find for you to do. All winter long, no overtime. Beautiful summer, overtime! You'll get there, as will I...eventually.
