You could probably get the roof and hood shot for ~1,200 bucks and get a fairly nice job. It will cost more if you have the shop fill the holes in the roof.

500 bucks will not get you a very nice job but it might look OK from ~10 feet or so.

Just an update:

I ended up selling the Norcold and the Baja 540c - just more than I needed and I needed $ for tires. Got a sweet deal on a set of 5 285 MTR's.
I travel quite a bit for work in the Fall so I didnt get much done. Installed a Pioneer Premier HU and bought a Cobra 18 WX ST II to install under it.

Trying to decide if I want/need to spend the $ on OME shocks when I can get a set of Bilstein B46-1477/1478 for $180 shipped. From looking on here OME is the best choice but some do like the Bilsteins. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/240275-bilstein-questions.html

Thinking I might sell the 863's and front spacers and buy some 860's? All I plan to get is the front ARB bumper and sliders.

Are you sure the odo wasnt tampered with?, 31k seems low for the paint problem, just seems that if someone didnt drive it much, it would be garaged a majority of its life? at least if that were me, it would always be garaged. carfax?

Wow. Thanks for the compliment. Hope you enjoy my buildup.

Yes I am sure it wasnt tampered with. Its a 2 owner vehicle, vehicle #8 or so for the first owner who was in his 80s. It wasnt garaged. Some people have more $ than they know what to do with, this was the case.

I look forward to more of your encouragement. ;)

Well small update.

I am now up to 36K miles! I know 5K miles in 6 months after 31K in the first 180 months. :bounce2"

I finally got my 285 MTR's mounted.

- Picked up an extra set of lightforce 240's so I can have a set on the 80 and the wifes 4runner.
(Just need filters for them now.)
- Also got a set of Billies from GR8WHTCRZR and need to install those and the 850/863's. Still trying to figure out all of the options for lifts on 80s.
- Still have the Cobra 18 WX ST II waiting and picked up a CDL switch awhile back. Hoping to only pull the dash apart one more time.
- Hoping to find an ARB or get together with our club and build something like this:
80bumper2.jpg

80bumper3.jpg

With an extra set of hoops around the lights.

Havent wheeled it yet. I dont know if its b/c its so nice or what. I know I need to just wheel it and get over that, but its never really been dirty.

I love this bumper. One of things I don't like about tube bumpers is all the mechanical junk behind the bumper is revealed. This takes care of that.

Guy told me he bought a new vehicle every time he thought about cheating on his wife.
That, my friend, is the cherry on top of the cake.
Congrats on your purchase. Just for peace of mind, Slidell having been heavily hit by Katrina in 05, did you check that part of the rig's history?

Yeah me too! I wish I could get some closer pics. Any idea on tube size or how much tube that might take? or thoughts on how to do bars over the headlights and it still flow?

Yep, it was fine, bunch of rain, but no flooding where it was located. Thanks for the compliments!

awesome find, and congrats! You seriously should paint it desert dune it looks SO good on an 80...theres a guy on here who did it a while back and it looks very good

Who makes or made the bumper? Nice find.

Congrats on your find!

Well she's no longer stock. Picked up a Yakima loadbars set off of craigslist a few weeks ago and installed them. Trying to find a fairing now.
I finally found a set of 860s and traded my 863s for them. (In doing that I think I found a guy to make some sliders and the front bumper I want.) Then got the set of bilsteins installed along with the 850/860s. It was cold last night at midnight but we got the front finished. Then got the rear done this am and then late after work tonight. My buddy came over and said it was in the 20's. That's down right cold for people down here in the south. :)

Anyway enough with the typing let the pics do the rest of the talking.

DONE!

Sorry for the quality of pics the cold and dark definitely make it tough to get nice pics.

Looks good man. You need to call me when you got these projects going on. I dont mind getting dirty as long as im not working. We'll have to scratch your 80 and my jeep up soon.

Looks great! I agree with AK they look good with the lift!

Jay has a very valid point. 6M1 is a difficult color to spot paint and in addition Toyota's refinsh protocol is to paint un-broken panels in their entirety and blend the adjacent panels. That means paining the roof will also require that both quarter panels be painted (since there is no seam between them and the roof) and the upper tail gate gets blended. Painting the hood means blending the cowl and both fenders.

That leaves the doors and the lower tailgate. You might as well paint the whole truck.

Mine is painted the same green and I had no problems getting the paint to match the original paint . I had a small dent spot painted , the hood ,rear tail gate painted and it come out perfect. I could not even see the repairs And I had this done in a body shop in Phnom Penh Cambodia. What they did to get the new paint to match the 10 year old paint was take off the fuel filler door and sent it to the paint suppler the have it scanned with one of them digital paint scanning things and had the paint mixed to match.
I think for $250 getting about 4 or 5 things painted the green both bumpers painted and fixed ,oil changed. new belts, AC recharged, new plugs, the inside completely taken out and detailed , I did not do to bad for the $250 US.

Looking good,
How is the ride now? I'm worried about changing springs in mine and get a stiff ride. About 90% of its use will be on paved or dirt roads. I'm thinking I could get away with just adding the spacers to the original springs .

How much lift over stock did that give you?

Did you do any thing about the caster angle?

I assume the 850 went on the rear?

I'm going to go with a mild expedition set up .
