Lookin Good man i need to get my rig off jack stands

Update:

Well I thought I would get the pictures up on here, but we have been ever which a away here lately and they are still in the camera. So Ill just spill the beans and post pics later.

Milestone - We hit 40,000 miles in the 80 last week. Sad but great to see it. I have pics of the speedo that will be up soon. No issues thus far other than slow windows a small leak in the rear sliding window and a speedo that doesnt always want to work in the early am (From my reading on here its a grounding issue and I will tackle it when I do the PHH I have sitting in the garage.)

Good news - LED Tails installed. Got them from MOT off of eBay, they had a small crack on one lense, but so did my stock ones, I fixsed it with som esuper glue and you would never know it unless you looked really closely. I also got some LED signal bulbs in, but need to do the flasher mod. Have to remember to get by a NAPA and have the part # written down. (We dont have many NAPAs realy close to us.

Slider installed and I am going to get to start modding our 4runner. Other slider waiting for a little time to get it on. Sliders cost me $6.26! I got the sliders for free from a guy in Savannah and a family friend picked them up and held them a few months for me. I finally got around to installing them and had to go buy hardware to mount them (they are bolt on). Total cost for all 6 bolts, nuts and washers, was $6.26! Sweet!

Bad News - My wife is going to start driving the 80 full time. We have been sharing it over the last month or so as her starter went out, but now she will be in it all the time. Why you ask, you just started building it.

Well we are expecting baby #4! He/she will be here in March and we need the space as 3 car seats and a booster wont fit in anything else we own.

I still need to get the CC bushings installed on the 80, as I would like to get the looseness out of the 80.

Now if someone would just buy FLOPPY (the 62) I would be well on my way to getting these both set up.

Finally, pics of the slider install.

I need to check my exhaust hangers as I have a few rattles, it was at the rear near the can at the back but now its rattling on the slider.

Notice the LED tails I scored from MOT for a deal! I also installed a set of LED signal bulbs so it looks clear until they come on. I have to do the flasher mod so they will blink normal again. I am loving the LED tails and they match the 3rd brake light which is nice. I will tyr to get some night pics up soon.

Here is the milestone:

That's right 40K miles! Man the last 10K miles went by fast!

I picked up some new Headlight bulbs yesterday and may or may not use them. I still have to replace the drivers headlight as it has a hole in it from a rock or something so I am not sure what I will end up doing with it in reguards to OEM replacement or going with an aftermarket pair.

Update that has taken too long to get here. Now at 50K+

Well last week I replaced rear brakes: a caliper, rotors and pads. Had horrible noise from the rear brakes and drug my feet getting parts together. Ended up that a pad dropped out of the drivers side and ate up the caliper piston and made a huge mess.

Now.... Fronts need done and we are having issues with the pedal still being really soft and randomly going to the floor. Trying to research in the 80 forum so here is my plan thus far:
100 series pads front, probably new rotors and a front end rebuild as its weeping more than I like. Considering all new soft lines front and rear while I am at it. (Not sure on rubber or SS, hearign stories on the +/- of those as well.)

I may end up having to go ahead and just put front pads on to keep it roadworthy and tackle the rebuild later this summer. I just hope that the front being replaced will fix some of the pedal issues. I see horror stories on 80 forum of master cyl, booster, LSPV, and ABS stuff.

Update:

Man its been awhile since I have updated this thread. Much has happened in the last 11 months! My wife is still driving the 80 and we now have 68K miles on it. We had baby #4 and our two oldest love riding in the back. I got laid off in May 2010 so It has been an interesting year.

- I was able to get the front end rebuilt with parts from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters, Slee SS axle to caliper brake lines (f&r) and a new booster and master cyl.
-I picked up a set of tail light guards off of a guy on here, I know damage multipliers, but there hasnt
been much more than FS roads and a few very mild local trails so they will stay. I picked up a '89 Pickup abotu a year ago and its been my daily driver and hope to get it to wheeling mild stuff again as my new jobs schedule works much better for being able to take trips.
- The bolt on sliders rubbed a hole in my rear heater hard line up near the cats so I went ahead and did some hoses under the hood and bypassed the rear heater, we never used it and from several threads on here it sounded like they are an accident waiting to happen.
- I still need to get a few other things done like the CC bushings and the flasher mod. Also need to find a drivers headlight, washed it last month and blew a silverstar bulb because of the small hole in the headlight. I still need an ARB and my wife has actually been asking me to get one, seems liek everytime I find one it slips through my fingers, maybe I can finally get that tube bumper copied.

Still considering the repaint, but its getting worse at fading on the ood so something should happen sometime in the near future. Hope to have more frequent updates, but we all know how that goes.

Where to begin. We are at 81K miles, man how time flies. Basically just using it as the family DD. Picked up some Wet Okole seat covers for all 3 rows, I have been using the front row as I really dont want my kiddos messing up the other 2 rows. :)
I repacked the front drivers axle last month as one of the wheel bearings started to wobble some.
Picked up a Disco cup holder for my wife for Christmas, shoudl have seen the look on her face. lol
Got new plugs, cap rotor, and wires from Ralph Hayes Toyota and installed everything but the cap and rotor as I had to wait on them to come in.

The B&M cooler and other misc parts are for my new '99 4runner.

I had my pickup set up almost where I wanted to for wheeling but was having to fix something every month or so so decided to put it up for sale. It sold faster than I thought and we shared the 80 for almost a month. I got another 3rd gen 4runner on New Years day so it will be getting mods most recently. https://forum.ih8mud.com/sc-upstate-cruisers/553805-new-yota-no-6-a.html#post7299690 I added a 3rd row to it on Saturday so we will see how much thta effects which vehicle gets taken where. My wife wants the 4runner, but space wise she needs an 80 or larger vehicle with 4 kids. We recently got a new puppy as well https://forum.ih8mud.com/sc-upstate-cruisers/553791-finally-found-replacement.html so that has added to our space requirements as I want him to be my camping, woods, outdoor, family dog. We have a 9 yr old dog as well, but she has always gotten car sick from day 1.
Still love the 80 but man does the 4runner ride nice, really makes me consider s 100 until my wife reminds me the 80 is paid for and has been a good fit for us. I have been seriously debating putting th estock springs back on it and going back to some closer to stock ATs. It might help to install the OME CC bushings but with the debate to go back closer to stock I'm not sure I want to. Only time will tell.

Still looking for an ARB or similar front bumper, had a few lined up recently but time and $ havent lined up like I had hoped.
