Whitey,

The wife says she likes that one. So when is it going to be for sale? :D

some more pics of some rare stuff! lv guys chime in on some of this...mud flap brackets! short seat stay arms, some more heater pics, this is something I have never seen, the ducting and vent lever for outside air and a louvered grill on the outside, this must be the accessory kit for outside air, everything looks factory.

from what I have read the fender mirrors were only on the very earliest LV's 63 to early 64. As my late 1964 LV did not come with one. Landpimps is has a sightly different mounting style, but I believe yours has to be factory maybe it is just an earlier version.

I've been looking for a fender mirror for quite some time, thought it was stock for LV's. Wanted to stay stock instead of going with FJ55 mirrors. If the fender mirror is not OE for the later models, what is?

Guess I could just go with the 55 mirrors now, so I'm not mirror-less anymore.

JP, Thanks for posting this great info,I have been a 45 pickup guy for so long I forgot my lv roots,my very first landcruiser was a 64 lv,the one that gumby owns now.The more I look at this heater the more impressed I am with the quality and function.I can just imagine what this would look like fully restored.I think this heater needs to stay with this truck indefinately. Is there someone reproing the mudflaps?

SOR has them... they aren't cheap at like $50 each, but we'll be throwing some on our LV be they are just too cool:cool: And I must say SOR has quite a few nice LV resto. parts

JP- Wow, thanks for posting the LV info. I've got the 55 mirrors and gaskets, anybody have any thoughts on whether I should go with or without?

Sorry for the hijack, Whitey...

What an incredible find! Never seen a heater like that before...

Not only is that a rare Nippon-Denso heater it has a optional out side air kit. First picture is of the opening for inside air. Second picture is a the handle used to close outside. Third picture of that coil appears to be a defrost hose. I have never seen anything like it before. Very cool find. The dealer installed Eaton shows a optional outside air kit something else I've never seen posted. The outside air works great when trying to defog the windshield. Maybe you knew all this already. It just your post and the pictures didn't seem to match.

Yeah, computer skills are lacking! Here is the outside vent and a pic of the front mudflap bracket.I cant believe I finally found an lv with real evidence of mudflaps and the fender mirror! Can anyone find another pic of this denso heater with outside air kit?I wonder if Rick D might have some insight!

Rik D would probably be your best bet. I think he had round twenty-five LVs at one time and did a ton of research on them.

Do you have a picture of the deforest vents? I know the 63 model FJ40 had defrost vents even though what was concidered to be the stock heater was still a year or two away. Did the 63 model LV have the defrost vent also? Us with pre 63 cruisers had no way to defrost the windshield. I've seen pictures of hoses and defrost vents added to the face of the dash and it just look bad. I have a 61 FJ40 that the openings for the below windshield vent are sealed up and the area above that is cut bent open to defrost the windshield, that looks ugly too. Probably install a 63 windshield frame to keep the vent and still have the defrost vents.

It does have defroster ducts and small openings at the base of the windshield,I will get better pics tonight, all the ducting is still present its just 48 years old. Last night I was presure washing this thing and the rattle can faded blue paint started coming off and revealing the original paint! It was cool I could go in the door jams and reveal the crisp two tone paint lines, some of the paint actually looks perfect in some areas.I forget the blue color code, but this was the blue white like spectors 45lv.

Serious presure wash, got down to original paint in some areas, happy in corner of shop, proper hub caps! Just found out the guy I got this from still has the original engine and trans!!:D
