It's odd that they built multiple (non compatible) versions but it's only two pins if this is what's causing you grief.

Kinda reminds me of another car company that changes things a lot. Even in the same model year. :)

When you get done, are you planning on building up oh, 3 or 4 hundred spare plug&play harnesses with instruction manuals?
A proper kit for a 97 gasser swap would be just about right.

I'm using this harness on my swap. psiconversion The trick is to get a complete pullout from the donor vehicle.

still no pics.

I got another throttle pedal and TAC module from an earlier truck; ie 02ish?

it's the TAC module with the black box not the aluminum one. Still no go. That one I bet is non compatible at all.

At the shop we just got this new PICO scope, a really bad to the bone 4 channel scope. I'm going to probably take that home and get some logs.

I have read now of a couple of guys having the same issue, but they didn't post their resolution. Over on ls1tech .. also on HPtuners and EFI live.

Mine goes to 30% on the pedeal and the throttle shoots to 100%. Once the pedal increases past 30%, the module freaks out and shuts down. If you slam the pedal straight to 100% it's all happy.

I think I already swapped the two signal leads on the pedal because I believe one is 0-2.5v and the other is 0-5.0v. That wasn't the issue. I put them back and now will get the scope out to make sure the pedal has no bad spots and the throttle has no bad spots. This is frustrating.

Ahh. nothing like a good challenge. It's got to be some kind of compatibility issue, although I have no idea what to do next aside from scope. I have a feeling I'm going to find all is good with the sensors.

Hmm, well there's some hints in there anyway...

Which version of the harness are you running? Is it the stock factory harness with the BLUE/GREEN color-coded PCM connectors on it? Which PCM?

If it's all from the same year you should be fine-- so that might point to a fault in the ETC pedal itself. The strange thing is that the systems' designed to 'fail safe'-- it it gets inconsistent readings it is supposed to go into LIMP mode-- not 100%-- so it's a mystery. Unless the control leads to the throttle actuator are swapped instead. In any case, using the scope to see the output from the pedal is the best place to start.

TT: I have two wiring diagrams. They don't match what you put up. Although, I have a 5.3, Gen III motor. The year in the ecm says 2004.

I keep forgetting to get back on ALL DATA at work.

Wayne,
I've got a couple of sets of Service Manuals right here, so let me scan a few of the relevant pages and I'll PM you so we can compare notes. The FSMs should be the definitive source, but I'd bet a Brisket-at-Dickeys that there's an incompatibility between years/versions/vehicle-series going on here. The LS2 guys have had issues since the GTO was a late convert to DBW (having an LS6 one year, followed by LS2 the next) and was 'sorta' a Gen IV, but had 24X reluctors instead of 58X. It's darn confusing.

Anyway, we've been using "truck" pedals consistently and haven't run into this issue.

Check your e-mail. I just sent you pinouts from FSM to compare with your AllData info.

Pics pics pics

oK, I finally got set up with the camera, and can't find a lot of pics I took.

Here's a few I've got from my phone.

If it loads, take a look at throttle position #2. IT's got something wrong with it. It's not the pedal, it's coming from the TAC module. Some kind of feedback..

I have tried an earlier pedal but it starts off at a different voltage and it freaks out immediately. This pedal starts out at 1.2v or so, the other .5v.

I'm almost positive it is not an inverse pedal position situation either. Both follow each other just slightly different resistances to give an offset. I'd rather find an aluminum style TAC module and try that one. You know, They do go "bad" too and this is some used thing I got from who knows where.

The wheel shot got me looking.

These are the wheels I found below.

Yup, that's 3" exhaust outside the frame rail on the passenger side, and back in by the drive shaft where I merged it into a 3.5" collector into a 3.5" muffler.

It's coming off to get painted, or coated one of the two.

Good pics. Need one of the engine. I like those wheels! The extra TAC I have has a plastic case with an aluminum back from an 04 truck.

DAMMIT!!! I just went to the dealer and ordered a new one for the vin in my ECU.

VIN shows to be an 04'.

200 bucks. Shoulda tried yours. I'm getting impatient.

Cancel the order. I just dropped my extra one to you at the post office. Also, FYI, the salvage yard I got my drive line from said they sell them for $10.

I'd rather not. I already paid for it. I hate doing that to parts guys. I was willing to swallow couple hundie for a guarantee that it is for my PCM.

so far the parts guys that I talked to showed like 5 different part numbers for different years. I'd love to sit behind the desk and look at the parts myself. Too much stuff not enough time.

I'll get it tomorrow.

Thanks though.

ITS FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT WAS THE TAC MODULE!!!

There was an internal problem causing feedback from the throttle motor!

As you can see in the scoped log I took, the pedal 2 sensor was the one getting that feedback. The further it opened the throttle the worse the feedback got.

Like somekind of flyback circuit or what not. Anyway, I drove it around today after picking up the new TAC from the dealer!

I'm putting it all together and going to get my jet ski and stuff!

The 200 I spent on the new TAC module came out of the A/C budget so no A/C for a while.

:( I"m going to go ahead and put the front on it I guess. I'll talk to momma first and see if she'll go ahead and let me get the a/c put on this week!!!

EDIT. : This thing drives really really really really really awesome!!!
