I go away a few days - all sorts of stuff happens! So sorry Kim you can't make it. You must do one of our epic trips before I decide I have had enough of them!

Ridendude - did you have a deer whistle on you bike ?? I had them on my last road bike - never knew if they worked or not. You are one lucky ridendude to walk from that!!
I talked to Drew ( FJ on the last Macattack) last Thursday night's meeting in Port Moody and he said 100 litres minimum gas for a FJ. Ronald also has a gasser the 22re ( Matt's fav ha-ha) and he's going to be packing heavy on fuel too - so between all the gassers we should have enough - failing that the diesels can take turns towing.:grinpimp:
I am having clutch issues again- so I may have to advance my winter clutch change out plans - I will play around with the clutch adjustment some more before I decide on that decision -- tough job keeping these old rigs trail worthy.

I've used them on my other vehicles, but have never even thought of putting them on my bikes. There really isn't much of an area to put them on my bike. No fairing or other extraneous stuff, a nice naked ride :-)
As far as the fuel topic, Drew was towing a trailer as well, wasn't he? I would imagine that dragging the trailer through would have used some extra juice...
Good luck with the clutch issues

Ronald took a 100L extra as well and he was not towing a trailer. Once you are on the trail its just the number of hour with the engine running that kills the gassers, our average speed was between 5 and 10 KMH most days. I ended up with an extra 20L of gas and was gratefull to have it.

We could pack less fuel if we could get one of these -- with the added bonus even the 100 and 200 series could consider coming:flipoff2: There is one at the entrance to Mackenzie, BC on display - I think its dedicated to BC's tree huggers -LoL
Check out footage at 1:30 -- in action.

haha. good one Glen. perhaps its time to stop dreaming and upgrade your dated 74 to a real truck.

I recommend you sign up for the Mackenzie trip and you will be enlighten as to how well the 'dated' 70 Landcruiser series works in tight bush. :D

Thanks Drew, good to know. What are you usually getting out of a tank as a DD?

It would really suck to get stuck in a bog with one of those beasts.

I took 9 days to respond - why is that in any way relevant? I been away at a wedding in Kelowna, busy selling my house and getting my dated BJ74 (which I know is not a real truck like yours) ready for a 10 day wheeling trip in Washington State

What do you mean ....? I did not send you a PM
"in reality Mr Glenn, i was very much going to joing you until i got a very disappointing PM. has anything changed since?"

If you want to come fine - if not, why are you posting such drivel on this thread? I think we are done on this one.

OK boys, enough is enough. I know both of you and your both good guys, not sure why this has to be so complicated. Glenn has a ton of time in the seat, Sass has had a ton of time in the seat, I'd venture to say that if you didn't know each other from this forum, and met around a campfire having a few pops you actually might like each other. I first heard of Sass on the BC4X4 forum and didn't really draw a conclusion, then met him at a fireside chat, he's a good guy. Sorry you two have rubbed each other the wrong way, you really should meet, then you can really get a hate on for each other... or not.

Thanks GG. I originally started this year looking for info on the AMHT. It's grown into something I hadn't expected. I hadn't planned on this becoming dancing with the stars....I wanted to go on a challenging trip. I certainly appreciate the interest generated by my query.
I am inclined to concur with Glenn, if people, and not just Internet personalities are interested in being involved with this trip, then come along for the s***s and giggles.
Other than a phone call and some PMs, I don't know anybody involved so far.
How do I know you're not all a bunch of assholes?
I see this as, we meet up, we drive ( like we all like to do), we help each other out, and enjoy thte trip along the way.

I've been drinking by the campfire and need to stop soon...

you guys hit the nail right on the head.

for me, call it an interview. i'm not going to dedicate two weeks driving couple thousand K not knowing who i will be hanging with.

thanks i'm out.

Two points:
1) Your truck could not carry enough fuel.
2) You failed the interview.

Dangil, it looks like there's only 2 gassers on this trip now. I will be bringing along a 1 gal can of mix with the chain oil as well. I'll just bring along enough mixoil and refill from the truck cans.
As far as saw fuel consumption, a gallon a day would be alot of cutting....we're clearing trail, not cutting firewood for granny.
If there are multiple saws involved, that spreads the amount of fuel you'll be using to get through the areas where pruning (logging) is required.
I know it's not a clear cut # for you, but maybe it'll help with your planning..

Cheers,
Bill
