Glenn,

Count me in. I will try my best to book my vacation time during this trip once the dates are confirmed.

Thanks,

Tarsier/Ruwi

I hear for any CC trip Trailers are an instant Draw a quarter for the individual that shows up with it.

To avoid hauling a trailer you could get an Oshkosh fuel hauler to follow us ...:hillbilly:

Might as well just call it a 'fuel cache' at the first mudhole......:D

I will be sporting a trailer is the reason I said that it would be cool to travel a bit with some cruisers. If its not welcome ,I guess I could leave it at a friends lodge near aniheim for a bit ,but a couple things come to mind , I'm not stoked the fact I would have to come back to pick it up ,especially when I'm actually wanting to end up near toppley .not sure if this is the route you guys are planning.is it close? I could cut up at Kennedy lake dam I think it is..plus potential fire bans play a big factor in my timeing second to bug season of coarse.

I've got a nice little M101CDN set up as well that would've been nice to bring along. After researching on my own and talking with Glenn, it'll stay home. I'll move the rtt to the roof and travel simple. That should make it easier through some of the softer areas of the trail. I want to enjoy the trail and not have to worry about the extra weight/drag of a trailer through the mud and the extra time on extractions...

Can you leave your trailer at Quesnel (double back down) and meet us going along Hwy 20. Pick it up on the way out at Quesnel from there head north to Topley. I wheel with Drew and Jim in the US with trailers and they often have to haul it up the highway to pick it up coming out from a trail.
One guy in a HDJ81 is like X2 the room I got - so you should leave your kingsize bed and flat screen TV home for this trip. :hillbilly: LOL

No problem about the trailer being a no go. I'll be heading much the same direction and about the same time .
I wouldn't consider me a participatan for the whole journey just a couple days maybe. I'm not that hard core of a camper .I pretty much have to have the trailer,I will be packing for two maybe three ,and two dogs ,if not three, and I'm in the nimpo lake area a few extra days ,before heading up to toppley. Am I thinking wrong that I could hang a left off the wagon road your taking at guite a few spots to get to the nachaco lake resivoir Kenny lake dam far. Can you post a map that highlights your Guy's route start to finish. That would be sweet .

There are 'trails' north off the Krestinuk, which appear to connect to the FSRs south of the Nechako. Expect the trails to be heavily overgrown, difficult to impossible to find and very slow going. Even if you can find them they will be at most ATV wide -- so you will be cutting all day long, especially in a wide 81.
I would not attempt alone, if you have an accident (e.g. chainsaw, tree fall, vehicle issue, etc.) you will be in serious peril.

Dates

Im available to go anytime between mid August til Sept 21. Is 2 weeks a good length of time to set aside for this?

Yep - after 10 days you will be longing for pavement.

Its very comfortable on slow bush trails - like a John Deere tractor - AC, stereo, GPS :hillbilly:

Firming up Dates

Rob (Landcruiser Rob) will know when he can get holidays this month - so we should start firming up dates - I am flexible. So you guys should pipe in here
My original preference was the last week in August and into the first week of September ~Aug 25 to Sept 7.

Meeting Point - First Night

Day One -Vancouver to Williams Lake. At Williams buy your last perishable food, beverages, goodies, parts, supplies, propane, bug juice and fuel. Hwy 20 stores are poorly stocked in terms of nutritional food. From Williams Lake take Hwy 20 - cross the Sheep Creek Bridge at the Fraser River. Once you have climbed out of the Valley up onto the Chilcotin Plateau, look for the McIntyre Rec Site - its the first right just past the Highways rest stop (outhouse and garbage), which are on the left.
We can meet up there that first night -the rec site is nothing special just easy to find and outside of Williams Lake.

Late August, early September work well for me. I have a wedding to be at on Sept 28th in Victoria so late September is tougher to do.

I have booked those dates at work already. I left myself a a little wiggle room on the dates on either side..

Glenn, what time of day do you figure on getting to the day one stop?

I would guess between 5:00 to 6:00 pm allowing time for shopping in Williams Lake.

I'm still very interested, though a lot of life/work issues preventing me from committing. I'll let you know the day of the trip.
