i think im a probably

and im hoping to tag along with norcalborn...

early that morning will be painful for me cause i will have raced all day saturday, but a lil pain never hurt anyone if it has to be that way:meh:

I was planning on heading to Country Way at 6am, after possibly having to pick up Nemesis Gnat if he can deal w/ a Dawn patrol ;) . PM me your # here so I can get directions to pick you up before breakfast. I'll buy your coffee for ya! It's just you and me, wife has to work in the am. Why so early? After 7am Country Way gets packed to the gills. We'll have a bite to eat and ideally be on the road no later than 8am to drive out to Hollister.

Anyone wanting to follow us can, but just in case goto Google and here's the map.

*There is a day use fee, IIRC less than $10, and a reminder, I'm unlocked and 2wd so I'll be playing lightly (if you can call it that :hillbilly: ). *We will meet up at the gate entrance where I will disavow all responsibility for anyone's stupidity and reiterate the you break it you fix/deal w/ it rule. This is not an "organized ride"!! Just people showing up at a mutually agreeable place at a mutually agreeable time, so I guess it's then considered a "Date". :princess: :D
**Bring at least a jacket as it's likely to rain Monday-Wednesday, which due to the location means we might get some early sprinkles.**

As far as lunch, whenever we feel like heading into town/leaving, and dinner around 5-7pm since they close by 9. I need a dinner head count by the time we meet up at Hollister so I can call in to let them know ahead of time. :p *Remember, cell coverage out there's spotty.*

*That's it, I'll recheck this thread Saturday afternoon for anything concerning me/us and see you guys at CW or Hollister. :D
**I'm bringing my camera, and anyone willing to help shoot pics should also bring theirs, I never get any shots of my rig 'cause I'm always stuck photographing everyone else.

**Make sure at least someone has a winch among us and a recovery strap, as last trip someone broke a u-joint and we had to tug him free so we could set him up w/ front wheel drive.

Just wait until you come up here. We will get you on some "real" sleds! ;-)

TK

We have the REAL sled here too.:flipoff2: We put away our summit XP 800s for the season as it was close to 60 degrees when we went. We can only run our fan cooled summits in this heat without stopping every couple miles to cool down. Besides.... Jared has never rode a snowmachine before. It worked out well for all and we had a blast going from 5500 feet to 11000 feet.:crybaby::beer:
No worries AKcruiserfreak I know how the tundra flats work up in north pole:cheers:
Jared, Thanks again for a great time. Welcome back anytime!!!!

You guys are all awesome. I'm in napa now with my girlfriend, hung over and much, much poorer. The good news is she keeps telling me how she thinks this trip is great for me. Woohoo.

Not sure if it's been said before, but I'm down for whoever wants to join - 60s, 80s, whatever. Just looking to meet cool people.

See you all on Sunday arse early.

Glad to hear she took it well and your doing great. I'm sure it was great to hook up with her mid trip too! Let me know if we need to start a jared fund to help you make it. (he he he) Safe travels to you.

I'm gonna cross-link/post this over into the local part of the board, and have passed on the info about Sunday verbally, and left a message for the treasurer of MTA (local TLCA/Toyota 4wd Club) to get in touch w/ me about things and I plan on telling them to try to show up, if nothing more than to see if they plan to perform a prerun for the Mud-N-Yer-Eye Frolic.

hollister iiisssss fuuunnnnn...

Shhh!!! :D *You'd think so after seeing this: NorCal FJs at Hollister 03-14-09 - NorCal FJs

Reminder, someone else please bring a camera or camcorder?? ;)

See you guys in the morning at 6AM at Country Way.

Jared "Alaska Tripper" coming to Bend

Just a heads up to any and all. Looks like Jared is going to come out to Bend, OR on Tuesday or Wednesday April 7/8. He is going to stay for at least 2 days so we can do the following

I'm taking him up to Mt Bachelor for some ride time on our 150+inch base on one of the days (probably WED. If anyone wants to join us there let me know I THINK I can get $25.00 passes. 80% of the Mt is still open.

we are going out in the Desert east of Bend on the other day Probably Thursday. Tentatively, we will go out to Pine Mt then south to Crack in the Ground, go up to the Green Butte lookout, maybe take in the Christmas Valley Sand Dunes. Maybe camp maybe not? We'll go to the Murphy/Coyote Butte area just south of Bend for some mild hill climbing and Poseur Photos.

I'll post up details and nail down the days late Monday the 6th. That is unless the Northern California guys lose him somewhere on Sunday....

Edit: forgot about the Micro Brewery Sampling, Deschutes Brewery (also in the cooler on the trail), Bend Brewery, Silver Moon Brewery...

Jon

I see how it is Jon! Keep it up and I'll ask Todd to kick you next time he heads out Northwards on Surveyor duties!

At any rate, I figure it's great that you guys are gonna show him the good stuff and am posting over in the 79-95 Truck/Runner thread to make sure Jerod and Club (Jefferson State) are able to either join in or at least lend some support. :D

~I promise we'll (try) to keep him in one piece...thus my "ever popular" little pre-run speech. :D I dunno how he'll handle the logger-sized breakfast though.

*Here's where he's talking about Jared, just to sweeten things up a little..

So it really is 6 AM right? No "haze the new guy from NY and everyone shows up at 10?" I'll be there at 6...

By the way - sweet dunes. I had no idea that so much of Oregon was desert. Can't wait to check it out.
