It was a blast to be able to host you for a couple days, I know our place wasn't as luxurious as Corbets but between us both I and I'm sure Corbert, hope you had a good time while you were here. I know you didn't leave hungry! You'll be "digesting" that Chorizo Cure from The Diner well into Utah! Safe travels! Watch out for those Utah Chupacabras, they're even nastier than the ones in the 505.

what's the plan?

Well Jared...... You should be getting close to Utah today. I'm sure you are white knuckled coming over the passes as we had over a foot of snow fall last night. Looking forward to your arrival. I just wish I had found Mud before I did my trip from Alaska to Central america in 93'. It would have made it a bit easier and the comfort level of knowing you were all out there for me would have been priceless.
Looks like another major road trip is due! I think I'll put together some ideas and planning for a big road trip with all that are interested. This may take a while to plan but I will put it together.
I think it would be hoot to have a bunch of cruisers rolling on a expedition from MUD.
See you soon Jared

Kevin:

I'd like to see if can make it. We can also try for the place we used last time if the parking lot is not being used for something else.

Red's Java House at Pier 30 right at Bryant and Embarcadero. (Burgers, Beer, Fish & Chips Etc)

That was a great place but if that pier was not open for parking it could be difficult to find parking around there. It might depend on what is going on that weekend.

That or Speiskammer sounds fine. So there is a park nearby on the bay we could park and hangout?

Cool, thanks for the update Trapper, Looks like you guys had a good time!

Hey guys. As I write this I'm sitting in Alaska60's basement in Utah. Camped last night overlooking Moab (arches campground was completely full). Had 75 degrees and sunny in CO on Friday, 80+ in New Mexico for the wheeling (I promise there was some stuff worth sticking my head out the window for just ahead of me in Corbet's second pic!) and a snowstorm coming over the pass into Cedar hills UT this morning.

JT, Corbet - I can't thank you enough for the great time I had in Durango. Both of you are welcome in NYC any time. I can't promise great wheeling (unless we take your trucks through central park) but I'll do my best to repay the kindness and generosity you both showed me.

This is the stuff I was driving PAST to get to the actual good stuff:

Alaska60 (Tom) and I are heading out snowmobiling tomorrow, maybe some fly fishing on Wednesday. I'll be rolling into SF on Friday, but will be with the woman and a friend of mine. Next Sunday/Sunday night/Monday is I think when we're lining up to do some sort of meet/run in the SF area. Norcal, I saw you PM'd me - cleaned out my box, or just give me a ring.

By the way....

I hit 86.8 mph on the way to DC. While getting 15-16 mpg. And I'm picking up a rebuilt carb in SF that JimC is shipping to me. Booya.

This is but a sample of the fury that is my cruiser when unleashed on a highway. I'll take a pic of the max speed as it stands, tomorrow:

Jared, shot you a p.m. :D

FWIW it seems the lastest and greatest way to galvanize the local Toyota Heads into a Meet-Up is for someone to do a cross-country.

*Do I/We even want to pass the info about this onto other owners who are in the same boat as me, no longer rolling a 60 but still Toyota lovers?? *Hint..I'll be using the 4Runner* Shouldn't be too hard to put the word out if anyone actually wanted to. :)

Shane

p.s. Great news!! I've started working again!! (P/T but still better than nothing!!) Woot..I'm trying to schedule the w/e off so I can still do this, meh...I am scheduling the w/e off, heck w/ trying. :grinpimp:;p What better excuse, right?

You were mentioning playing in dirt and in light of the access, or lack of it out here I mentioned Hollister Hills *the spot where my avatar pic is from, as one venue, but there is also Prairie City out in Rancho Cordova which is actually on the way into the Bay Area.

I went ahead and set my schedule to what we discussed tonight, I have pretty much Sunday and Monday off, but need to either be headed to dinner or towards home by 7pm Monday night, as I have to be at work by 4 or 5am the next morning. :flipoff2:
