After fighting the transmission for two days I removed it this morning to find what I feared. I destroyed the clutch trying to get everything lined up and slipped in

So bought another one

This time I put the transmission into first gear so I can wiggle the rear output to wiggle the input shaft to fit into the splines on the clutch and into the pilot bearing. Tomorrow should be done with putting everything back together and fill fluids. Hopefully be able to test drive before I head back to work tomorrow night

No test drive today some time in history someone swapped in the wrong U-joint yoke (or what ever it’s called) on the long drive shaft. Have to order a new joint and yoke

Got the new transfer case shift lever assembly back from powder coating. Interesting the differences

Different model years? Looks like the important connections are in the same places.

I wish I had a responsive powder coater shop nearby.
There is a local guy but he is wayward: kept a porch glider of mine for a year.
Maybe he liked to swing.

Well, I’m pleasantly surprised that I found a new tach pickup from an online store I never heard of, in Japan. Also got a used one from down under.

Finally got a correct replacement drive shaft end yoke thing. So took the drive shaft to a shop and got the yoke end replaced with a new joint.

Installed an under hood 12V power source. Only real place I could find to mount. It’s going to be a pain adding wiring for accessories. Oh well.

Drove it for the first time since January. Having issues shifting the transfer into 4H, I think I will swap out the new shifter assembly for the old one and see how that goes.

oh, and that uniclutch seems to work really good, it's like half the pressure from what I had in it.

yes, not smart enough to cut out one piece and bend to make it like I wanted

Doesn’t seem that long. The price of fuel at that Raceway has increased just a tad.

Swapped in the old transfer case shift lever, now it shifts like before, the one on the right

Seat update on the Scheelman seats. Did a 750ish mile road trip, Tuesday Wednesday - round trip to Fairbanks. Lumbar support was good never felt like a tired back. Seat bottom is a bit too stiff for my skinny but. Probably will keep them.
Denali was out in full glory

Got some used SCS F5 wheels 16x8 3.5BS. Also went with the Falken Wildpeak MT in a 255/85/16. Might needs some fender flares.
