There are a couple beaches on either end of the boardwalk that aren't that bad and feel like actual beaches but definitely not as clean as the outer banks. I remember seeing this rig, you don't see to many Toyotas on such tall tires.

Cut and turn is not as critical on a 62 housing as it is on a 60 housing. That being said, I'd recommend it to others as it isn't really hard and pointing the pinion up and running a DC shaft is going to help avoid a potential rock grabber.
Set your new caster to stock +1 degree. Make sure you have the weight of the vehicle all set up while you do this. Lots of write ups on here, do a search.
Grinding everything off the 80 axle was fun, wasn't it?

It took me about 8 hours to grind everything off, then another hour to hit it with a wire wheel and paint on the weld through primer. It was a pain, I wouldn't have guessed by looking at it that it was going to take that long. Thanks for the info on the cut and turn.

We are about at the same point. Too bad we are a country apart. It’d be awesome to build ours together.
thanks for the link. I've been watching your build. I was thinking the same thing, if only we were closer! We will have to find ourselves closer to one another sometime!

I was thinking 35s but with my goal of snow wheeling, jumping to 37s and beadlocks made sense. Plus with the 4BT it’ll be in the sweet spot for rpms on the highway.

This is the fun part!

Man I'm jealous of your diesel swap. I'm thinking the 6BT would be awesome, but that is a few years down the road, for some reason the wife isn't hip on spending money on a diesel right now....for now I agree. Those Coopers are such a good looking tire.

The SOA could be more expensive... mine is. The 6BT is more common to find so it could be less expensive to find a motor. It’s all the adapters and time that start to add up.
I’ve never cared for social media til I found IH8MUD. It takes up a lot of time researching what to do and how to do it, who knows what and cares to help.

I’m surprised to hear that your engine swap was cheaper than your spring over. Which is more fab work?

I have it all written down on the 4BT swap.
I bought the stepvan for $4200. Sold the stepvan, traded the transmission for a reduced price for my rebuilt NV4500. Sold my carburetor, 2F motor, 4 speed:) ($600, the guy who bought it has it on CL now and it’s gone from $600 down to $400 now) and the tool chest from step van. The price of the 4BT ended up at $1800. The rebuilt NV4500 was $2000. Then add up the accessories, however my buddy Jeremy gets a friends and family discount at Napa so got those at 10% over cost. I did get a X2 battery from Batteries Plus because of the reviews and warranty.
The SOA I’ve bought 63 leaf springs, Ruff Stuff SOA kit, Marlin Crawler High Steer Kit, Hydro Assist Ram, Knuckle Rebuilt Kit, ARP studs, Chromoly axle shaft, Harrop E-lockers, 1997 FJ80 rear axle, gearbox rebuild kit, and I’m sure I’m missing some others. Need more parts too.
Haven’t even finished the SOA yet:rofl:

Gets expensive fast. I’m 38 and been a saver. I have money in the bank that I saved for this. The SOA is costing more... thanks to my tires, Elocker and DOT beadlocks. Don’t do this if you don’t have money in the bank. It’s not worth doing all this work and loosing it when your in debt. This is exciting to do though, I’ve never done a build project before.
I’ll be watching yours

Aside from the motor mounts and where to place the motor it’s pretty straight forward. The 5 speed shifter is in the same place as the 4 speed. There is cross member fabrication which I used my stock but beefed it up a lot.

Yea counting wheels and tires, and the Harrop e-lockers adds it up. The wife and I are getting on Dave Ramsey’s plan, we agreed I could have the money from the Tacoma sale to do the build. Debt is now enemy number 1 so the diesel swap will definitely be paid for with cash. Maybe I can find a deal on a dodge truck with the 6bt in it.

Same thought process in our house. Get out of debt! Interest is the new American Slavery.
