Your reading comprehension must be different than mine. That fluff piece doesn't give any new info. it simply states that the production FJ Cruiser MAY have Tacoma running gear, because the 2003 concept did.

I think he's just trying to keep this topic alive so you will be ready to eat crow on Feb 9th :D ;p :)

With the amount of s*** talking I have been doing, I might still be eating said crow on the 10th!

I heard some sand pounder has put in a HUGE advance order for them . In a recent release he claims they are vintage new , get 65 MPG and come in cutting edge retro colours , and all for the low introductory price of ...

<The Wrangler is not insignificant in terms of sales. There must be 20 in the parking lot at my high school. I don't find it strange that Toyota wants a piece. Expecially since it recognizes that the youth market is important to the future. Toyota is definately a company with a long term business plan.>

Jeep sold 70,000 Wranglers in 2003. Toyota sold 56,000 4x4 Tacomas, by way of comparison.

Interesting side note that LandCruiser 2003 sales were 5,700 while Lexus LX470 sales were 8,000. Found that fact very interesting!

THAT should be the one ............ !

Tech from the 100 Series and Style of a 45, that would be the perfect breed.......

couldn't agree more. That's the sweetest cruiser out.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is the one FJ-40 garage posted or something very similar. I want the old look. Old body. Something like what ford did with the thunderbird. Retro look, modern features (have your air conditioning, disk brakes, all time 4wheel drive option, dvd, 6 disc changer, ect, ect ect) just give me the old looks, that is really all I ask. Would be double nice if it was built Toyota Strong but honestly would be happy if it looked like a FJ40. I feel if it is a concept FJ40 I should be able to look at it and say hey that is a new FJ40. I should not look at it and say who stole my f&%cking bezel. If it looked like the one FJ-40 garage posted I would not be able to get to the dealership fast enough to get my hands on one. I am seriously hoping this will be my first and last new car I buy ever. 16 more days and all questions will be answered. I want someone to bring a digital camera and laptop and download pics that night. I f$%ckign wish it would have been in detriot. I was there last week on a business meeting and would have loved to see it in person. I wonder if toyota realizes all the talk this thing is geting in the cruiser community.

I just found out I'm taking my advanced class the last Friday to the Chi Auto Show. I think it starts for the press on the 9th. We will be going the following Friday. It's actually a pretty good deal to go to the charity event on the 10th. It's $75 a ticket, but you get to check everything out first, before morons steal all the knobs and you can actually get in the cool vehicles without 40 other people in line. I don't know if I can swing it this year though.

Good link, but won't know for sure until early Feb. auto show. http://www.auto123.com/en/info/news/news,view.spy?artid=34921&pg=1

Sounds like it was written by a Cruiserhead. :D

I found it interesting that the Toyota spokesman kept referring to Toyota's heritage, making it sounds like it will be a Toyota and not a Scion. He also said "FJ-40", but not Land Cruiser. I would bet they were told to be careful not to confuse American people with references to a luxury wagon.

Here is one line that kinda made me go huh...."being that the brand's 4x4 loyalists would flock to the FJ Cruiser if offered." I don't know, but to me it almost seems like Toyota is taking advantage of us. Knowing that there is that loyalty to the cruiser, seems to me like they feel whatever they produce that has the name land cruiser on it that we will flock to it. Hmmm....not exactly Mr. T.

That piece was definetly written by someone with more than average Toyota knowledge. In it they kept referring to a BJ70, outside of people on this board, who the hell has ever even heard of a BJ70, noone, atleast none of the 'average' market who aren't Toyota fanatics.

I like the V6/6-sp manual idea...that would rock. Has anyone found any actual spy pictures of it? I can't believe no-one has caught any spy pictures of it...there are always spy pictures of other cars...dang Toyota for being so secretive! :) One cool thing about this is even for those of us that probably won't run out and buy one immediately, it might take some focus off the older 4Runners and Cruisers, so the prices on those drop down even more.

First we want them to make something for us (enthusiasts), and now you don't? :flipoff2: I think they probably are trying to take advantage of Toyota 4x4 enthusiasts, nothing wrong with that! :D

Flint, what chu talkin' bout, sucka? I was just implying that it seems as if Mr. T feels like they have us enthusiasts by the nuts, and anything they produce with the badging of Land Cruiser on it, we will automatically embrace it as scripture. Even if it's not really a Land Cruiser, but a sad attempt at tapping into that market with another "mall cruiser".

Did they make any changes to the FJ concept since last year? I remember seeing it the Chicago show then and I thought it was pretty cool for a retro-creation. Maybe this year they'll take it off the stinkin' turntable and let folks have a look inside. I'd be interested in getting a group of Chicago-area cruiserheads (or anyone else who's in town then too) together and going to the show. Any one up for it?

We will be going too. Wanted to go to Detroit this year, but work kept getting in the way... bunch of a$$ wholes. They order me around like the were paying me or something....

I think it s a step in the right direction. It isn't diesel, and it isn't solid axle, but it is a vehicle which i hope will have decent off road prowess, and will be affordable and "back to the basics" enought to where u dont feel bad taking it in the dirt.

My big concern though is the number of posers that will probably buy it . could give the rest of us a bad name.

On the other hand, it might make wagons and 40 s more valueable. WHen i was a kid, u used to be able to pick up VW beetles for $50-- running. I had a guy give me one for free if i promised to get it out of his driveway by nightfall....

After the new beetle came out, the old ones are going for $3000-$4000 for a strong restoration candidate! Fawk!!!! If i would have know that I would have kept the one I restored in High school, and sold the parts car i got for free from the guys driveway for $4000.... LOL

Lets see my 60 that s the same color as the concept vehicle be worth 40K now....

And there are rumors that Volvo will put out a new car that is styled retro after the p1800. If that is true, I better get one of those really quick before they quadruple in price, too.
