You would have to empty the system, change the valve, vacuum the system and recharge. You put dye back in when you filled it right? Any new leaks show up?

This last time i checked pressures I saw a bit of green dye in LOW side shrader valve. I’m going to clean it and check again tomorrow to verify.

Thanks, I think I’ll have AC shop take a look.
Good luck man! Let us know what you find... I'm invested in this now. :)

Yea clean it off because when you connect and disconnect a little leaks out, could just be residual.

Took it to pep boys this morning. Free Diagnosis.

Guy told me the compressor does not sound right. Not sure what that means? Also says its low on refrigerant and oil. States it reads 90 on H side and 100 L side. They are supposed to call me back so i can talk to AC tech.

Did you put/pour PAG oil in the new core before hooking it up?

I did add 2oz of PAG oil to new evap.

Just called me. So the gauge read 20 on L side. They added 10 and now reads 30 L and 225 H. I may have had bad gauges. At one pint mine read 35 then 20 and another i used read 0. They were all over the place.

They told me the compressor is making a sound like the bearings may be bad. He said he doesnt know when it may go bad. Also said the rear was not working, need to investigate this more.

So they will evacuate, check for pressure leak, then add refrigerant and 1oz of oil.

Sounds you're on the right track. There's a lot I CAN do... but the AC gas thing is something I leave to the experts. I never seem to get it right.

I think air got into the system. The Pep Boys tech call me and said the rear AC is working fine now and so is the front. I remember when using the rental tools that the H side valve screw was lose and i had to tighten it down. I found the can was completely empty the next day. I had left it on the can adapter that connects to the gauge hose. Well i found that adapter was leaking when i picked it up. I may have unknowingly introduced air into the system when charging it.

I dont know if this would cause the pressure readings to be sporadic...but does point in that direction.

They just called me to tell me the car was ready. Lets see how it goes the next week or so. Fingers x'd. :)

Boom!

Mines blowing at 40 at the vent with yesterday's 95 degree 100% humidity after the recharge after the evap core replacement. Cant be cold enough. lol

How did you get it so low? I checked and mine is 55-65 with 95 outside temp. Maybe elevation is playing a role? I’m in Florida.

I have to drive it for it to blow cool. Is that the same with yours? I don’t know what else to check.

Im in orlando! Maybe your compressor is actually weak. Or, getting there. Wait until you get it back today and see where you're at with the air removed. Also, my sight glass is clear now and drip drip drip like mad.

That’s the temp i get when i picked it up. He did mention the compressor is making noise. I don’t know what it’s supposed to sound like tho. The compressor being weak could account for the fluctuations in pressures?

I think your fluctuations were due to air bubbles, no?

Was it eventually fixed without issues?
