How long of a job is replacing the bearing and how many bananas? It’s getting hot outside and while my AC cools quickly and cold the noise is crazy. Still hoping this is the issue...after a year. :(

Called the seller and they will replace it if its manufacturer defect. Gonna remove the pulley and listen to it. But when i first installed it i gave it a few spins and didn't hear any grinding. I wonder if the pulley is making contact with the 'cover'?

With a load it can make noise. My old bearing made the noice only when clutch is engaged.
Try not to remove and install the pulley on the compressor shaft multiple times as this cam cause the shaft (where bearing rests) to wear out as it is a soft alloy. I had that in my corolla and the whole pulley assembly started to move on the compressor shaft (bearing didnt fit tightly on to the compressor)

K, ill just leave well enough alone then :) its only on occasion that it makes the noise.

I am having trouble getting the 10mm loose. From this view from above I tried to turn it counterclockwise and could not get it to come loose at all. Not a good way to keep the pulley from moving while the 10mm is on there so I tried to use a screwdriver and a pipe and still couldn’t get it loose.

I used a really long screw driver to jam it so it didn’t move. Or try with belt on(?).

Righty tighty lefty loosey :)

Definitely turning it the right (lefty loosey) way...lol.

The only place I can get a screwdriver in is between the faceplate and the pulley track....still couldn’t get enough stability so the pulley wouldn’t spin.

Look at my thread for how I used the screw driver. Does your faceplate look like mine? They look different.

I didn’t try that....I might try that when I get back in town next week....stinks bc I am driving to alabama and it is going to be hot. The AC works fine just makes the crazy noise. It’s been over a year.

Did you end up getting the bolt loose with the belt on?
I'm doing this job this afternoon.

No. Right before I was going to tackle this I hurt my elbow and I haven’t been able to get much torque on anything in about 6 months. I am going to have someone else do it or try again in the next month or so.

I ended up leaving the belt on and used a 3/8” breaker bar, but held the clutch plate with my hand it came right off. There wasn’t much torque on the bolt.
