Am I right in thinking the brakes are a pressurized system - with a pump providing the assistance via pressure - rather than vacuum assisited?

I had this issue, as it turns out the master cylinders could cause this problem indeed, however it could also be a leak in one of the lines coming off the MC. if your loosing peddle pressure dont be too quick to think the MC is trashed it could very well be a leak elsewhere. my symptoms were, loss of peddle pressure and all the usual brake lights on the dash.

Ok I've just managed to get the codes read properly and have these 2:
C1223 ABS control system
C1246 master cylinder pressure sensor

Can anyone shed any light on these please?

On semi's/busses 3-1 would be right front sensor gap meaning that there is too much gap between sensor and the exciter ring. 4-1 would be right front sensor short or open. If the code starts with a 3 we simply push the sensor in. Not sure about cars though. Hope it helps

I have the christmas tree dash lights and have searched the forum pretty thoroughly. As expected, no OBDII codes show up with typical scanner so I did the manual diagnostic by connecting the Tc and E1 terminals. Unfortunately, after I connect the terminals and turn the ignition on, the ABS light does not blink at all. It stays on solid but the cruise control and airbag lights go crazy. Any thoughts? I did notice that I had a rear taillight bulb out and have replaced it but still no joy. I have disconnected the battery as well and lights are still on when I reconnect. The lights are the red brake light, green Trac light and amber ABS, VSC Trac and VSC off lights. I'm stumped.

All 4 lights on my 01 100 just turned on after installing a new stereo, amp etc....can it just be a coincidence that they all turned on after the install since I assume they don't have any relation with each other? ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF AND BRAKE lights are all on....

Does anyone have an idea what may have caused it?

Similar Issue to above posts, wondering more about how to manually pull codes. Took the cruiser to a Toyota/Lexus "specialists" yesterday and they said they weren't picking up any codes and that the lack of codes meant that the ABS computer was out all together and quoted $1900. What is the best way to manually pull the codes? is there a step by step anywhere? Really trying to avoid a 1900 dollar hit right now.

Post #5 in this thread. However, your best option would be Techstream.
I had this issue about 6 months ago and it turned out to be a dirty speed sensor (left rear). Never would have figured it out without Techstream and the repair cost me nothing.

I have the VSC, VSC Off, Airbag and Check Engine lights on.

the Airbag light goes to a bad computer per Toyota, but it's recalled so I lucked out on that.

As far at the Check engine light, and VSC lights - I had left my gas cap off somehow. however, I went by an Advanced Auto store for a code reading 10 minutes after it happened and the only code was the Upstream, Bank 1 O2 Sensor code was showing low voltage.

I replaced the rear brakes about a month ago and had the front L hub done a month earlier when I had a flange strip out (replaced CV, flange and hub parts). My front brakes need replacing and I am planning on doing them and the hub this weekend.

My current thinking is that my crazy mountain gravel road could easily have dirtied up a sensor, or those front brakes that are getting close to grinding...

Thoughts?

I jumped the E1 and Tc terminals on my engine bay diagnostic port to get the codes responsible for all my lights.

I got VSC codes:
51 (ECM System Malfunction)
47 (Open circuit in center differential lock signal)

Thoughts?

I also got to see some other diagnostics on my NAV Screen. Too bad engine codes still show up as those blinks...

Did you get this fixed? What was the culprit?

I have the same issue: ABS/VSC Trac/VSC Off lights are on. At few stops braking was a bit funny - it seemed like ABS engaged in front on dry surface.

I plugged cheap OBD II reader in and got no codes! This is odd. Or to be expected? Should I short some connectors in engine diagnostics compartment (as suggested in one of the posts) to get the codes displayed?

I got LC 04, 67K. had CEL/VSC Off/Trac Off due to evap canister and a sensor in evap system failure some time ago - I doubt that this is related.

Currently away from home - 100 miles - should make it back on Saturday - will read FSM and see what I can do myself.

I had a situation where I was getting gas, trusted the gas nozzle too much and ended up with a puddle of gas poaring from my car. I literally was afraid to start it for a short while. I had heard about the cost of the evap canister so I had literally taken photographs and gotten the info from a witness. Does overfilling your tank significantly cause this in one shot? If so, I would be concerned...

I had my brakes almost go to the floor after an emergency about a month ago, had it checked out by Lexus, they couldn't find anything. It happened again last week and the ABS, and VSC lights came on and stayed on. This time they had the codes and could troubleshoot it. Turned out to be a wheel sensor $500 repair.

I have a similar problem as reported above. I recently washed my truck and found water coming in under the drivers side dash....sunroof seal is leaking. My horn started honking so I pulled the fuse to shut it off. A couple hours later I reinstalled the fuse and no issues. I drove from Austin to the Summit in Ouray and on my way home my ABS, VSC and VSC off lights came on. I shut off the truck and started it back up and the lights went off. Now when I start they are off but after a few miles come back on. Ive searched under the dash in the connections I can get loose and can't find any corrosion. The ABS code is a 68 which I understand is a 4low sensor. On top of that the other day I seemed to have lost 4th gear but now its back..... Electrical gremlins....any thoughts?

I had this issue and it resolved after I replaced my O2 Sensor. I sent through the whole deal, I commented above about it.

All is well now. I just have the Airbag light on, a pre-existing issue that will be resolved by that recall replacing the computer.

A friend is a field tech and he thinks its a corroded wire somewhere, any other thoughts?

This code doesnt show up with a code reader and my ses light is not on. When I do the jumper and run the test its a 68 or 4low switch. I found another thread where someone else had the same exact issues and posted there last night. Im pretty sure its a short in the wiring somewhere but fining it is not easy.

I am an amateur on this but from what I have read, I would start by following the wires looking for a place there is a rub and then try removing the sockets and adding some dielectric grease to discourage corrosion and shorting.

I have a 2002 LX470 (2UZ-FE).

Four dashboard lights are on and stay on continuously:

ABS (amber)
VSC Trac (amber)
VSC Off (amber)
Brake (red)

The vehicle still drives normal.

This condition started a couple weeks ago and has continued ever since.

Any diagnostic or troubleshooting ideas for me?

Thanks very much for any insight or ideas you care to share.

I have been dealing with the same alert/sounds. I own a 2006 Landcruiser with 203,000. No issues until this. I took it to the dealership and to my favorite master tech. They hooked it up and diagnosed the issue with the following codes: C1223, C1251, C1252, C126. This is the code for the ABS Actuator Pump (basically a very high tech brake booster to control the skid control, VSC traction control and ABS system).

They tested the resistance, grounds, relays and after eliminating a short or bad ground, we replaced the unit. The part from Toy was $2,150 US$ and 6.8 hours of labor for a total of $2,972.23.

I talked with the tech and he has been at this dealership for 7 years. He's completed about four of these jobs. Not very common.

Hope this might help others. At the end of the day, I love my LC and was going to have the correct repair done no matter the cost.
