Hey guys, I’m pretty grateful for the posts on this topic, dash lit up with abs, vsc off, vsc trac, breaks and I found this post after some good old search barring. Instantly ordered some Techstream and am on my way to my friends garage for some warmth to check out my RH Rear Speed Sensor, Techstream was a beach to set up but definitely worth it, as I borrowed a friends code checker before knowing nothing would show, this purchase was an easy decision.

Pretty great stuff here, I’ll update after the repair. Just wanted to post here for reference, I would advise you to follow the other posts advice and get Techstream before you head to the dealer, they’re not very expensive and the patience probably saved me a pretty penny. Hopefully those other codes fall off after I get the sensor cleaned up/replaced if necessary. Thanks guys! Many a off roading days ahead as spring approaches!

I have a 2002 LX470 (2UZ-FE).

Four dashboard lights are on and stay on continuously:

ABS (amber)
VSC Trac (amber)
VSC Off (amber)
Brake (red)

The vehicle still drives normal.

This condition started a couple weeks ago and has continued ever since.

Any diagnostic or troubleshooting ideas for me?

Thanks very much for any insight or ideas you care to share.

My issue started the same way. It then led rather quickly over the next few weeks to the lights staying on and very loud audible tone. And then my brakes would actually not work.

My issue ultimately was the ABS/brake master cylinder that is a single unit that contains the computer and actuator for the traction control and ABS.

Repair was $3,500 from the dealer on my 2006 LC with 180,000 miles.

I had C0210 right rear speed sensor code. I fought with the sensor for more than an hour to pull it from its housing, cleaned it thoroughly and reseated. Issue remained. As I was looking at replacements online I noticed the connector at the end opposite to the sensor. Went outside, found it, pulled it apart, sprayed it with Deoxit and reconnected. Started vehicle and lights are gone.

Dashboard Lights

Recently, I had the same problem with my 2001 LX470. The vsc on, abs lights were lit on the dashboard. I believe 4 in total. Also, there was an alarm sounding.....annoying. Brought it to the Lexus dealership.............master cylinder and accumulator.......their quoting me $3,000. I called localized "import auto repair" shops. I recieved an estimate of $1350 for the part (apparently Lexus loves this part as you can only get it at a Lexus dealership) and $140 for labor. I've read posts regarding this issue. Anyone out there with recent and similiar experiences? Thank you
Same issue that eventually led to a new master cylinder and accumulator and ABS ECU (all one part). Not under warranty. The total cost was around $3,500. Mine started with lights coming on and then going out. Then an intermittent audible with lights and then a complete failure of the ABS system which made it very difficult to stop the truck when in motion. I kept the old unit because I’ve heard they can be rebuilt.

I am having those four lights come on. The clue is they only come during a water exposure. This has happened twice after a trip to the pressure washer and twice driving in heavy rain. If the vehicle sits for an hour or more the lights are gone on the next start up. I have read the above post looking for just this case. I believe it's a wheel speed sensor. I think water is get in some where and monetarily grounding the positive side of the sensor circuit, the system protects its self be defaulting the system to off, therefore the lights. I have tested the ABS when the lights are on and the ABS is definitely off.

My Question to the forum is, I am on the right track?

Will I be able to read the past codes from a tech-stream or good code reader when the lights are off?

I have considered just pulling the wheel speed sensors one by one, cleaning them up, check the connections, look for chaffing or something obvious then just reinstall it. If this sounds like a good idea, which one is the most common to cause problems, has that ever been polled on the forum?

Any codes set, current or history?

I just got the LC a few months ago. Limited history, I have confirmed it was one owner, not accidents. I had the timing belt replaced, I replaced the exhausted system from the cats back. Runs strong, clean, not bad rust anywhere. I haven't put a code reader on it yet.

Reading any codes would be a suitable place to start the troubleshooting.

Mine did the same. Then eventually th beeping alarm will come on and then it will stay on. At that point the ABS/Master cylinder module is finished. Mine was $3,800 to replace

What was the final repair? Can you attach a link for Amazon for which Techstream you got.

Yaayyy, this happened to me yesterday when getting on the FWY. No sounds, alarms or buzzers yet, no loss of braking and no hard uncontrolled braking .. yet. Restarting the car and the lights go out until I get on the fwy again. Not sure if it's triggered by going around a curve, or the speed. Will test more tomorrow after I read more

Reading this forum and also the ClubLexus forums to find out more. I really want to get the Techstream to check the error codes, so if anyone who has purchased one can provide a link to the correct model I would really appreciate that :)

Have not called any shops yet, and of course I'm never going to a stealership so thats not an option. Once I can get the right tool and know what the codes are, I will go from there.

Thanks in advance for any advice & suggestions, but more info on the Techstream unit/model would be super awesome!!

How's your brake fluid level?

When I had this it was a dirty electrical connection to the sensor in the rear passenger wheel. I don't have a photo or anything but I'm pretty sure I found that suggestion in this thread or another similar thread. Unclipped the connection, sprayed it with DeOxit, reconnected and the lights went away. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, I will check the wheel sensors and clean them. I did check the fluid levels and all looks OK there, brake, PS, and AHC. I went driving again last night on the streets and I couldn't get the lights to come on. I got up to speed @ 70mph, but I did not try to get on the fwy, so I'll try that today.

I got the truck in May 2019, originally from the east coast, with 160k mileage and now has 170k. I had quite a bit of work done when I got it, including replacing all the brake lines & both exhaust manifolds due to wear from rust, all the heater T's, both sway bar end links, timing belt, water pump, all fluids. Truck had new tires and new battery already. Recently, I drove in light snow and everything worked perfectly, no issues.

In the meantime, I found this ODB II cable at Aliexpress -

Searched for Toyota/Lexus cable on their site that was Firmware V2.0.4 - hopefully this will work with my macbook pro. I will also try stopping by an auto parts store and ask if I can "borrow" one to use in the parking light when the lights get triggered.

I checked the tires air pressure this afternoon, and found each one around 25 psi, so I pumped them up to about 35 psi (max pressure is 44 psi). Then I noticed a missing lug nut on the right front wheel and each lug nut on both wheels were loose, some even loose enough I could turn with my fingers (yikes). I pulled the hubcaps to check underneath as well.

So I replaced the missing lug nut and tightened all the lug nuts on all 4 wheels. Then I went driving again and got on & off the fwy several times each time getting up to speed for several miles... and none of the lights came on like before!! I also tried different suspension settings from soft to hard

I'll keep watching this, and checking the lug nuts and tire pressure regularly from now on. I also got some electric connection cleaner/grease, it's not the Deoxit stuff, but pretty close and I will inspect and clean all the wheel sensors and wires. Hopefully I don't run into this again and maybe someone else can learn from this as well :)
