^^ That is not necessarily true. I have had the light come on and go off and the tech was not able to pull the code.

My problem

After I changed the shocks I started the truck and I had all of the dash lights on and found this thread. Funny thing is that I never had the buzzer come on.
I inspected all speed sensors and found that I pinched the driver side rear with at tool during the PITA shock install. Once the wire was fixed the lights were still on. I read on some thread that the truck needed to be driven over 25mph and the speed sensors would reset. Well it worked and I am all back to normal and have been for the past 300miles. We will find out more next week when I go for a 1,200 miles trip to the east coast.

Dang bad luck, I just noticed this thread a while back and the wifey was "just driving down the road" and now I have all these lights (Check, VSC, TRAC)

Sure hope mine just clears itself - I know I did not cut any wires lately - have not done much at all with the rig lately, except a new battery - :hhmm:

Prior to reset

I have no idea if this helped or not but I did disconnect the battery and pulled the ABS fuses to make sure it would reset.

Can someone confirm: I jumpered terminals Tc and E1
I do not have ABS light on, but can not seem to pull codes.
Steps reminder ??? - I do not have NAV in my 2000 (no screen for codes)

OK, no response to the DIY code reader, but why anyway when Autozone is 1.5 miles away.

Scan result: Cylinder #2 Coil misfire. It was running rough and that is what I expected, but not sure why the VSC and TRAC lights, perhaps the loss in power from being a V7?

New Coil and cleared all 3 codes (all 3 were misfire) - back to full V8 power, no lights at all.

Dashboard Lights

Recently, I had the same problem with my 2001 LX470. The vsc on, abs lights were lit on the dashboard. I believe 4 in total. Also, there was an alarm sounding.....annoying. Brought it to the Lexus dealership.............master cylinder and accumulator.......their quoting me $3,000. I called localized "import auto repair" shops. I recieved an estimate of $1350 for the part (apparently Lexus loves this part as you can only get it at a Lexus dealership) and $140 for labor. I've read posts regarding this issue. Anyone out there with recent and similiar experiences? Thank you

Do they 80series have these kind of electrical problems? I'm having some problems with my airbag light at the moment.

Just happened to me after a 2 hour drive. I recently put on new rear brake pads. The scan guage is not giving me a code. It also feels as though the truck will not shift out of second gear. We are guessing wheel sensors.
Edit- Shifting thing was our imagination so at least I can get home. :bang:

Mine turned out to be the ABS computer.

$1500 for the part :crybaby:

Just to update anyone searching, I had this at 195k miles and friend is a service manager at dealer... he was telling me without the buzzer it's usually the ABS computer, which is also traction control computer which is the same unit... dealer cost is about $1200 so don't expect much of a discount on this part, he was shocked too..

I had him give me my old one, upon inspection I can't see any cracked board or blown capacitors (for easy fixes), looks like it's something with the chips on the board failing

If you try to DIY this yourself realize that it controls both your traction control and ABS, if you move the car without it you need the e-brake to stop the car.. no brakes!!

So even if you see used refurbished one's on ebay I would not risk it from $800 used to $1200 new (dealer cost)

Ahh forgot to mention I reset the computer a few times and the lights went off for a bit, but then came back, I was actually flickering between this part failing and thinking that I reset it... I would suggest seriously taking it to the dealer knowing what you are talking about before you might end up with no brakes (given this is your issue)

FYI the other issue with the buzzer going off is supposed to be the master cylinder issue..

Clarification

when short circuited DLC3 contacts CG and Tc (DLC3 is located on the passenger side under the hood - mounted near the edge - nof far from the air filter) - I got blinking code 31 for ABS - 3 short blinks, pause, one more blink. According to FSM - it was right front wheel speed sensor. My mechanic replaced it - took about 2.5 hours as hard plastic housing was stuck - end up torching it a bit as pulling, getting a screw in etc. did not work.
Few days passed and no lights came up - so I hope everything is fixed. Just wanted to post in case if somebody has similar problem

Right guys I need some clarification on this proceedure please!!

Are you saying that you plug your OBD reader into the normal ODB port under the dash, and then you connect two pins together within the 22 pin connector under the bonnet and then suddenly your OBD reader will be able to 'access all areas'?

If so, does anyone have an image or diagram for the pin layout so we can easily see which two pins to connect together?

Many thanks!

Ok, did it under in the ODB socket in the drivers footwell.

Showed two codes:

39
51

Since yesterday I'm having another issue as well. The car struggles to start, and you have to give it some gas to start, and if you don't hold the revs manually the revs just drop and the engine switches off.

Thought it may be the battery, so fitted a brand new one this morning and it's made no difference.

The codes must apply to this issue. Any ideas???

The lights can come on for many reasons, mine just happened to be the computer. Additionally, the brakes still worked fine, just old school, no abs pulsing.

This is important. When ABS fails for any reason [ABS light on] the braking system is normally not effected, except that there is no ABS of course. Perfectly safe to drive, but you CAN lock up the wheels with heavy brake application.

Hi all,
I've just had my ABS & 2 VSC lights stay on on my late 2002 4.7
I used to get them come on in the cold occasionally first thing in the morning but they would reset if I restarted.
Now they're on all the time :(
I've bridged the connectors E1 & Tc at the connector under the hood and the ABS light flashes 4 6 5 9 and then repeats.
The VSC light flashes 4 3 4 7 5 3 then repeats.
According to radio display all test passed!

Can anyone interpret these flashes please?

I also tried a code reader at the ODB socket & no codes show or are stored.

any help appreciated.

cheers
Chris

I had this happen with my 2006, or at least very similar. I didn't notice any difference in driving. I do believe it was the gas cap, you could need a new one with a better seal. Auto zone said gas cap, then Toyota confirmed.
