Well, two birds with one stone then, Roscoe: i've always wondered what in hell that indentation was for. Thank you! Now while we're at it, do you know if the factory tire size was 29" or 31"? That last bit is just out of curiosity, i don't really need to know that; i asked the first question because Long Ranger's reservoirs mention different models, with differences attributed to where the factory spare location was, among others.
By the way, Roscoe, in the past three days we've had ten inches of snow fall, and it's still snowing.

The correct tyre for a troopy in oz was Dunlop Super Grippers 750R16. I think there were 3 different widths of 16 inch rim and I think out=rs were 16x5.5. I have some down the back .Ill see if I can see he size.
2017 model is 225/95/16.
I use a 235/85/16, they are very close to original size. I worked it out at 32inch. My Odometer and Speedo over read 1%. Ive tested it with a few android apps and I always get the same figure.

I think the 73/74 series had 31 inch tyres on 15inch rims, but not all of them.

We are having a very mild and wet summer but Sydney is roasting.

This is how mine looked on factory rims and Bridgestones in the same size at Billabong Roadhouse

A picture of my car after sitting for three days.
I really appreciate the info, Roscoe. While i work to pay for travels and mods on the Troopie (good Christ it's taking me forever), i am slowly working my way towards buying bits 'n' pieces for when i'll be able to get the car up to snuff, thus my questions regarding details like factory tire sizes. In this case, i'm quite dissatisfied with the fuel tanks i have, for reasons mentioned previously on this thread. Long Ranger's tanks are looking attractive just now, so i'm considering them.

Refresh me , which tanks do you have now?

I am also in need of this info as my 99 model 75 ser also did not come with a OEM 90L aux tank - spare is mounted under chassis. Can the standard 180L Aussie Long Ranger tank be fitted or is the chassis different to the one with the OEM aux tank ? I have a smallish 60L after market tank in there at the moment.

I don't think there is much to fitting the tank. Someone was retro fitting an OEM sub tank to his HJ75 ute recently. He seemed to think it would be a bolt up. If the OEM tank is a bolt up, then so should the LR tank
I'm sure Long Ranger would know.

Fuel transfer is not an issue. What i'm not satisifed with is that the tanks are much smaller than the builder said they were, and, more importantly, much smaller than i want. As well, i don't think the tanks are properly designed, since when filling them, especially the rear one, it's as if there is no breather.

Dom they have the factory breather on the filler tube connected?

Yes they do, trust me i've checked; which is why i'm leaning towards improper design of the reservoirs as an issue (i don't know any better). Whatever the cause, the result is less than satisfactory.

I think you might have gone over this earlier. I think there is lots of old LJ70 in Canada with dead engines. The rear fuel tank would fit yours if you wanted a 90 lt tank.

I did indeed, Roscoe, no drama; your input is very useful. Cheers!

Hello Mudders,

My clutch was acting up, and the left front tie rod was worn and loose. Had parts replaced, and both items came from Terrain Tamer; the numbers are as follows: the tie rod's is 790061014, and the clutch master's (which was leaking) is 356093985. These days i'm working 14 on and 7 off, so i parked the car at the auto shop and when i return it's all done. Just to say that's the reason for a lack of pictures of those. I could take pictures of them if anyone wants.

Hello Mudders,

I have the factory shop manuals for my car and, as far as i can remember, it's body, mechanicals, electrics, the lot. Except for one glaring omission: there's nothing in there about the PTO.
Does anyone here have any idea as to where to get factory PTO manuals please? Assuming such are available.

This is for an 80-Series, but I would guess it is very similar. Hope it helps!

RM183E under "Winch". here's a digital copy

AirheadNut (feels like i'm insulting you every time i use your Mud handle),
That's excellent, and thank you. I hope i provide no offence, however what my little heart desires is a factory manual, just 'cause a book is tidier than a sheaf of papers kicking around in the car. Which i will use anyway if i and when i need to.
So, if anyone on board here knows where i can find a factory manual, i'm a buyer. Yet i have downloaded the info sent here, and will never get rid of it.
DamienPeru, same message for you: i'll keep your info, and a huge thank you to you also.
Mud is fantastic, and i blame all you helpful and generous sorts out there.

Cheers Y'all! n

i gathered all the digital copies for all my MULTIPLE manuals (engine + 1 supplement; body + 4 supplements; wiring + 2 supplements), then eliminated all the pages with superseded information as well as info for other models/engines, then compiled it into one and had it printed out double sided. You'll find the physical manuals and all the supplements quite cumbersome if your model wasn't produced within months of the original manual, and quite confusing with all the superseded info in the supplements. makes it a lot less bulky getting rid of the info for other models and engines as well.
