A closer look at the OEM Cyclonic Air Filter

Seems that the G31 is only 1/4" longer and .2" wider, it's mostly just taller. If I am lucky, I can get it to fit. Hmmm.

My cyclonic air cleaner got installed this morning. I used a little fab work. (Hammer here, drill there.) and was able to fit a Slee DH Plat G31M main battery tray in the passengers side behind the head light. I ended up putting the PS Res. behind the air cleaner. It fit well! very happy with how it all turned out. So now I have 2 Diehard Platinum Marine G31 batteries installed underhood, and I get a washable air filter and tuna can dust collector as a bonus. (Not that much of a bonus, but I am trying to justify the $ spent on the Air cleaner setup just to get dual batteries while retaining my AHC.)

Hoser, thanks for starting this thread and the battery size advice, I really appreciate it!

Yan, (Akella 4x4) Thanks for sourcing the parts!

Christo, (Slee) Thanks for making the battery tray kit which saved me a bunch of time!

Thanks Mate! ;) That is for the AHC suspension fluid.

You guys and your mods. Does spinning in a circle before I bang my filter on the ground and reinstall it count as cyclonic? AMIRITE!!!???

It sure does!

CappyKD welcome to the club of air filters with tuna cans:lol:

Very clean install.

Nice job, Kirk! Two G31's FTW! Once you lose the AHC, you'll have even more room for a 3rd battery.

Thanks!

That is exactly the plan. My ARB fridge is sitting at 33F right now while I work, with no fear of killing the starting battery. Woo Woo.

No loss of power. Sounds good. Awesome mod. Because it led to the dual group 31's thus is my favorite mod so far.

Tuna can FTW!

2 weeks in and still very happy. Loving the aux battery. I had my 50qt ARB fridge on for 4 days straight 24x7 in 100 degrees and it had only dropped to mid 12 v.

Go tuna can!

$60 would be a steal. The OE filter element is probably close to $60. Is this new/used? OE or copy? Post a pic if possible.

Like many things in Thailand, "if it sounds to good to be true...." ;)

Definitely, pick it up!

Here is mine, including the blocked sensor. I just picked it up and will be fixing up the front end steering (bushings, tie rods, and UCA and LCAs). This is a GCC spec 100 series Year 2000 gaser Land Cruiser.

So does anybody have a line on where to get one of these in the US? Is there anybody in Oz that's willing to ship to the US? I'd like to free up space for a group 31 house battery and my ARB twin compressor under the hood.

I've been thinking about this and Slee installs the 100 V8 in an 80 using the late 80 (96-97 I think) can so why couldn't you retrofit the same 80 air cleaner to a 100 V8 in a 100?
