I've since washed my engine after purchasing this rig. It's much cleaner.. kinda feels like someone seeing your dirty undies! I can see if these are avail from any salvaged hundys.

Akella, if you can get all the parts for two complete setups, I would like to do this mod to my two LX's.

Napa has 17801-17020 in the gold paper filters. you have to order them and the come from wix in gastonia nc. I ordered 2 and the fit well. I get tired of washing the toyota filter. HTH

Bringing this from the dead because it looks like somebody is manufacturing an aftermarket cyclonic airbox for the FZJ100 for cheap AU$169. Briefly looking at it, it looks like the bottom section is the same as the UZJ100 version but the lid is different and doesn't have the provision for the MAF sensor. Fortunately, the lid PN (17705‑50090) is the cheaper part at ~ US$100. The resonator also does not come with it.

If somebody has an FZJ100 with this air box, we can compare measurements.

Several options here but perhaps the cheapest one would be to buy this box and then fabricate a straight tube that is the same diameter as stock (eliminating the resonator) with a provision for the MAF sensor.

I have a lid for the original toyota air filter box if someone is interested?

I have a full plug and play setup for sale in the classifieds. Upon test fitting this on my LX, I realized the late model cruisers were equipped with a rectangular hitachi maf that will not work with this air cleaner assembly. Link below.

If anyone can retrofit/3D print an adapter to accommodate the hitachi maf on late model cruisers I’d be interested.

Rare 100 Series Cyclonic Intake

Ah, interesting... you must mean your '06-07 VVTI is not directly compatible. I am running an '04 cyclonic box on my '98. There was no VVTI 100 sold/offered in Australia.

I have been looking at these air intakes for various applications, and suspect it would not be terribly difficult to integrate the proper air flow meter tube for the application. Either through using a separate stand alone tube or plastic welding the proper piece to the air box.

@hoser ,

Apart from the plastic engine cover, are these the full list of parts that require replacement (at least for the 98-02) for the mod?
  1. 44360-60230 PS Reservoir with mounting bracket that sits closer to the vane pump than the NA spec
  2. 44410-60480 HP Hose
  3. 44410-60480 The sending hose PS Reservoir to vane pump
  4. [corrected: 17700-50182] The cyclonic airbox assembly
  5. [corrected: 17875-50280] Intake Manifold to cyclonic airbox (pipe assembly)
  6. Bolts, clamps, nuts
My reference: UZJ100L-GCMEKV on Partsouq

No, those are wrong part numbers....

Airbox would be 17700-50182 (17700-50180, 17700-50181) NLA
Pipe assembly 17875-50280 (still somewhat available)

As far as I can tell, the airbox itself is no longer available.

Has anyone made this work on a 06-07 VVTI LX470?

I like this air box mainly for the dual battery setup…

It won’t work without custom fabrication. The vvti maf is a different shape (rectangle vs round) and won’t fit into the intake. I ordered the entire setup for my 07 and ended up selling it to another member.

Sounds like something a 3D printer could solve, no?

Picture for reference. You would need to modify the side on the bottom right hand corner. I’m sure someone could come up with something, but it’s a pretty odd transition from the rectangular pipe to the semi round section.

Pretty easy project for someone with a 3D printer. Does anyone have one of these intakes for sale? NLA from the usual overseas sources

just use the old maf, relocate the intake temp.
you guys, sheesh.
tundra air box makes room for second battery behind passenger headlight.

I dont think there is one, but this.
