A case for a new engine wiring harness.

I took the new engine wiring harness out of the bag to allow the plastic and wires to relax and warm before installation.
The harness comes out of the bag with the connectors taped together to ease install through the firewall. Calling this a wiring harness kind of undersells it. It includes all the grommets, clips, diag port, loom, and brackets you need.
I know $600+ is tough, but if you plan to keep your cruiser for 5+ years I recommend doing it.
I did a wrap job when the head gasket was done 5 years ago and you can see it’s shredded.
Just something to think about.

If I had a 95+ and planned on keeping it for any length of time I'd order up a new wiring harness and put it on the shelf for a rainy day. It could be double the price and would still be a good deal considering its value and lack or other options.

I have a 94 that spent almost two years parked in the garage while I searched for a replacement wiring harness (discontinued since ~2015). My harness was a mess and although it technically can be rebuilt it would have taken a lot more effort. I was very fortunate and found a new one of sale here on the forum, sitting on someone's shelf and they no longer owned the cruiser. I estimate the number of 93-94 new wiring harnesses out there to be in the low single digits.

I picked up one for my '96 about this time last year. The local Toyota dealership had a 25% discount going on at the time so it was a no brainer. Sure makes troubleshooting ignition issues much easier.

At some point I would think someone, in the US or other, would make a repop of the early harness (and the later version once it's gone).

If a girl can do it (note: it's not an 80 Series harness, just shown for comparison):
