Good points on all sides. Diesel cruisers can def be had cheaper. It’s important to compare apples to apples though. I haven’t seen many of the cheaper imports be LHD, locked, lifted, and armored. I also haven’t seen any with upgraded turbo, intercooler, and pyro and boost gauges which I think is almost mandatory on these.
That said, I had a buddy fall through on towing my excavator today so I’m feeling more desperate to get my own full size diesel truck so you guys should feel free to shoot me an offer!

For the few that actually know and have had the pleasure of owning a lhd 1HDT 5 speed cruiser there is no comparison to the gaz guzzling soccer mom FJ/FZJ80 you guys got here.I have driven 80 series most of my life but after living a few years in the US and having owned a few FJ and FZJ80's I looked for alternatives.

@texfredbastiat
I don’t do a lot of long road trips, and a fair amount of my time is doodling around my property doing projects. That kind of driving I get about 16-17 mpg. I’ve seen 19 mpg before on tanks where I did some longer hwy drives.
I’ve never been close to 80mph, I’m in kind of a hilly coastal area in Oregon where the limit on the freeway is 65mph. It’s a five speed, but if I was in the desert or a place where I was doing high speeds I would prob slap some 35”

Again- Im not sure where a 1fz is “guzzling” a lot more gas than a1hdt. quoted above from seller. the 1hdt is simply not one of Toyota’s more efficient diesels like 3b or 12ht.

The real separation in efficiency comes in that the 1hdt can push larger tires and heavier loads and not show much of a mpg hit like a 1fz. 35s and expo loaded the 1fz drops off to 10-12mpg.....where the 1hdt will not drop at all. but again this makes it even a more niche vehicle. If u want to run stock-33’s with lightish loads- the 1fz wins hands down at half the price and less expensive operating costs.

With the 1fz 80s Prices creeping up of late in the U.S. - it’s really become more about finding a deal on either that will make the most sense. Both have advantages and right now there’s more 1fz 80 deals mainly due to availability in the U.S. compared to the rarity of the imports.

If I would not already have 2 lhd diesel 80 and an agreement to buy one from a friend whenever he put's it up for sale I might have made you an offer.

If you are looking for a full size truck I am selling my 2015 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel with 84 k miles, one owner Texas truck. I want to downsize and start pulling trailer with one of my diesel Cruisers again.

That’s exactly the kind of truck I’m looking for. I was hoping for a 3500, but 2500 would work. Manual? Auto? Color? Would you part trade for my 80?

I just made a couple videos of the cruiser too. If anyone is curious about it you can PM me your email and I’ll try and send them.

You wouldn't f..... believe it. After I warn you someone broke into my car and stole my ashtray full of change, sob. I just want my ashtray back.

Crazy I never even think about the change. I suppose I’m usually parked in the woods or something. It’s a fairly rural area, I’ve never been broken into.

Anyway, good luck with sale at new price!

Helping a friend who is interested.

What is the boost/pyro reading at cruise and at wot (climbing long grade)?
Are the seat leathers new(ish)?
Is transfer case gearing stock?
@lynchmob mentioned in the original ad that it’s an H150 (not a h151 which normally comes behind 1HDT). I actually prefer the H150 for its lower first gear... but that also implies it has the smaller 275mm clutch disk... so... any idea if: it is actually a h150? If it is using 275mm clutch is it a HD unit? Or was the h150 input converted to the course spline for a 300mm clutch?

Edit:
What turbo upgrade? G-turbo? Supra?
Does cruise control work?

Hey thanks @lynchmob
Good info on that clutch. I’m putting a 1HDFT-h150 together soon. Was going to swap input shafts but this seems easier.
In the meantime, Twisting my buddy’s arm to buy this truck. Very well sorted.

The question about boost/pyro readings is a little tricksy to answer. It really depends on the grade and how fast you’re accelerating and what gear you’re in. Also depends on the altitude and if you start out from a stop on the hill or sort of spool up and cruise into the grade smoothly at speed.
I can take a reading later for you of boost/pyro at 60 mph on a flat stretch though. I’m not sure if it would be helpful giving you readings from on a hill though because there are so many variables.

60 mph on flat ground at sea level.

Yeah it’s getting a little chilly in the mornings. Nice to have the heated seats.
I think the max boost is set at 20-22 maybe? Lynchmob might know more about that. But I think the highest I’ve seen it is right around there.
If you’re going up a steep long grade you can easily get EGT to hot. If I’m passing or going fast uphill in the mountains I’ll either downshift to fourth or back off on the gas once I hit about 1200 degrees.
Sorry about poor pic quality on this one. This is passing semi in fifth going over a little 1000’ pass this morning. Steep curvy pass you have to slow down around corners and then build speed to pass.
