I was at the storage facility today to meet a couple folks that wanted to purchase the rear Wilco swingout and the attachments. So I figured I would do a quick walk around video of the current state of this rig. Here it is. As per usual, I am going to document everything that happens on this project to share with everyone:

Here's the video:

Great video run down. 👍

Finally taking this mess of a beast home! Can't wait to start ripping into her. But can't decide where to start. Any opinions on what to start with, interior, oil leaks, mechanicals, headliner, exterior cosmetics, etc...?

Baseline it. There's a thread dedicated to it.

Oh yes, that is the plan. I'm no stranger to baselining an LC. Have had MANY over the last 25 yrs. Can't wait to dig into it!

I’m curious why you sold a seemingly perfect and turn key LX450 and got this instead?
That one was way to perfect to wheel or offroad.

If I can get this one to where it's 100% mechanically and mostly good on the interior I think I may be happy. I also tend to get bored when there's nothing left to fix or improve. Tinkering is my stress relief :)

No such thing as a perfect vehicle to offroad.

The LX was way too perfect to destroy going rock crawling. I think it's in better hands now with a cruiser lover that wants it for what it is.

Well I think there's miles of difference between offroading and rock crawling. An 80 is awesome for offroading, not so great for rock crawling (so heavy).

After you baseline it, what are your plans for it? Wheel/off-road how? Are you gonna build it into a rock crawler or something else?

I'm hoping to have it setup well enough to do some light rock crawling, some heavy trails, and camping with my little boys. Maybe keep it for several months or a year once it's done (or maybe longer, maybe a couple years?). And just enjoy it for a while overall. I tend to get bored of projects once there's not much else for me to improve or fix. So I'll either keep breaking stuff to fix, or get bored and move on to another project. My wife always says "you're always the dummy in your purchases, the only person that gets a good deal is the people who buy your projects from you once you're done..."

Nice, it's good to be in a position to buy and sell as you please. More importantly, it's nice to have a wife who supports your madness. Looking forward to the progress.

Wobbly mirror on the 80 series? No, that never happens right? Literally every 80 series I have ever owned over the last 20yrs has had a shaky mirror at some point. As long as the tabs are not broken, it is a quick fix in under 5 minutes involving 1 screw you need to tighten.

Here ya go!
