I’m in the doubtful boat on that one.
have any pics of the tank?

in stock functioning form the comments about light coming in with 5gal left are accurate. As well as OE 25 gal capacity. I live on E and pump has been run dry more than a couple times so you are fine to experiment.

I go 300 miles then I fill. I have yet to see the gas light come on. When I changed my fuel sock it was on E. I was shocked how much fuel was in the tank when I removed the lid!
When I get to E all she takes is 70-75 litres. About 5 gallons.

Some day I am going to take a fuel can and run it till I see the fuel light. Although I hate running takes dry!

So theoretically I should get about 365-375 miles from full to empty

you seem special ;) though 5g left at light on is normal. The gauge is not linear. As mentioned first half last forever. Then starts dropping fast. Light on a 5 gal left.

First, you've never run it dry, so you don't know where "E" truly is..........

My gauge is well below the "E" when the light comes on with 3 gal remaining.

The OTHER (less likely) possibility is that the check valve and fuel evap system failed to return fuel to the tank and sucked the tank in so it is partially imploded.

It would be worth looking up through the tank shield to see if it looks like it has pulled away or is buckled anywhere.
Pick up a new Charcoal Canister (VC120 Autozone) and replace that and verify all your lines are free. Also install a new OEM Gas cap.

Not the best pictures, but I'm sunburnt and it hurts to roll under the truck right now lol.

Could it be a faulty fuel sending unit? I had issues with the float on my 62. Replaced it with a new one and the gauge was accurate.

Well a little update for you guys, been driving on E for 90 miles now lol. I guess my gauge is just really far off. Might just live with it? Or is this an easy fix?

I am interested to know too... I have a feeling I have the same issue!🤣 going to give it a go and run empty with a spare can of fuel.

It’s a really easy job to replace the sender. Mine was way off until I replaced it. After pulling the old one out it was apparent that someone had been in there previously and bent the arm along the way. The arm is easy to bend. You might pull yours and see if you can bend it to increase accuracy.

What Moj said, the arm got bent when the tank was replaced.

Pack a 1 gallon jerry can and drive until you run out. Use the gallon to get you to the gas station. Fill it up and see how much it takes.
To be on the safe side make sure your within 10 miles of a gas station, at only 10 to 12 miles a gallon you don't want to run out again before you make it to the station
I think the gas light comes on with 5 gallons left so if you get to that point testing it you should be good to make it somewhere
Not on all trucks, my 94's low gas light only turns on when it has 3 gallons left in the tank. The way the gas gauge works on these trucks is the main reason why i always carry an extra 15 gallons in Nato fuel cans when i go over land.

I managed to get the low light to come on. There was 12 litres or approximately 3 gallons of fuel remaining.

It’s good to know the light functions and the volume remaining.
