We have color!

Still lots of work to do. Unfortunately, I won’t be getting the cruiser back in time for GSMTR in mid-June. That’s okay though, gives me time to sort out the rest of the truck.

Man, that is going to be sooo nice.

Looks great,Kelly has done a phenomenal job.
Thinking about, “Passively looking for a trail rig.”
Definitely don't want to take that on Pritchett Canyon !!

Update on the hood situation:

My local dealer wouldn’t help. Another dealer stepped up and stepped in. They ordered a new hood for me, took my old hood and took care of me. They didn’t have to do that. They owed me nothing. That’s phenomenal customer service. I won’t forget it and that parts manager has a very nice bottle of whatever his favorite beverage of choice is coming his way.

I don’t want to get anyone in any trouble, so I’ll keep names and dealerships out of this text.
Sounds like one dealer wanted to win a customer for life, and did so by doing you right.

Looks great! Was it about the same color? Mine is white. Torn about doing another color, but afraid going white to another color will show too much in the creases and what not. Shouldve thought about that before I put the motor in.

Are you painting it yourself? If not what’s a paint job costing these days ballpark figure?
Thanks! It is the “same color” of you can call it that after 28 years of oxidation, fading, and abuse.

I’m getting it painted professionally painted he can give you an idea of cost; each customers needs are different, but from my research, a decent paint job in my region starts at $6k. That is not what I’m paying my painter.

I’d think twice and thrice about changing from white. White is highly desirable and one of the most sought after colors. If you’re ever going to resell, I’d consider wrapping it instead or just learning to love what you have.

I think I have the same issue, Except I think I also feel they used the wrong acorn lug nut and the bolt face has dug into the rims. Im not sure they salvageable. I need to post some pictures in my link. I have a build date of 10/94, and the rims are mixed, not sure if it came off the line that way, which there is a strong chance it did. I hope they're still good. Not sure I want to drop a grand on rims for that.

Are you replacing them with stock rims? Many options out there, I just sold a stock set of 5 for $200.

In other news, there isn’t any. I got my witsend QPM that I may or may not install. Other than that, I have no updates. No new pictures or progress. There are delays. How long? No idea.

I don’t ever like using the word “hope” but I hope my cruiser is ready in the next couple of weeks. It was supposed to be ready end of May/early June. We shall see!

**Let me edit for context. I know Kelly can’t help whatever happened. Im confident he’s doing what he can to mitigate delays.

Also in other news, I’m helping my veterinarian baseline his 93 FZJ.

Pretty clean overall, some rust here and there. Spent most of its life in Atlanta. Unlocked and has about 190k on her.

This is the worst of it, inside the USPS fender:

Needs to cut it out and patch it or replace it. That’s above my skill-sorry Charlie.

I’m going to take a closer look, and see how theu for with proper lug nuts. They’re chewed up a bit, but in good shape. I’d pick up some more stock rims if I found some in good shape. I’m thinking mine are fine. Bet that flat side of the other style lug nut will be fine.
