Looks good, only things I see that may be an issue is that your steering box will most likely need to be moved forward, it looks like your drag link is already behind the tie rod, it will only get worse on compression. Move it forward into the core support.

Also the studs on the lower kncukle bearing cap look really long and may get wacked and marred up to the poin that the threads get bogered beyond service.

Looking good though.

Looks like good stuff.

Is the TG 3" the smallest lift available in the SAS kits?

I ask because I'd like to go solid axle, but I don't want much lift (2" would be ideal), and I don't know if it'd be easier to buy a kit from someone, or try to transplant the solid axle stuff to my IFS frame to keep the factory spring locations.

Don't worry about driving the Toyota. My best friend went to Kettering, and he's a subaru guy to the core (he owns nothing but Suby's, and he works for Nissan now!), they'll get over it.

Is what we see there the result of one weekend?

Dan

Look at this and see what you think. I didn't even know this was out there...till about a week after I had the idea of a bolt on SA kit..:frown:

Take a look at the fwd spring mounts they look low profile enough.

I'm with you, there's enough spring choices out there and I don't want all my lift in the kit. I like a moderate, "sleeper" lift.

Whoah! That's the ticket I think! Much appreciated link.

Purple FJ62: looking good! The solid axle is much more becoming for a truck IMHO. :)

your going to like your kit. I just did the exact same kit in the front. Here's what mine ended up like.

i think i will like it very much. The biggest bitch job left in the project is going to be fixing brake lines. Something i have never done before. That was the reason this runner got pulled from the road in the first place. A brake line broke when i hit a big rock, it still drove and ran just fine. typical toyota...the only way you can kill one is to let the rust eat it.

I really tore up one of my rims on that rock i hit, anyone out there know where to get some affordable steelies and new rubber?

I am going for the dark look, since its going to be a urban offroader here in flint. So flat black is a must.

Here is my 91 runner, all stock. with about 138K on it, drives really nice.
This one i am keeping for a long time, it only gets light offroading, like the mounts 4x4 park here by flint.

I take pretty good care of it.

It seems that with all that rust on the body, your 4runner would be a great candidate for a low lift and some extreme fender trimming/tubbing. It looks like the rust has already done half the job for you.

HaHa..:D damn rust!!! Really knows how to kill a good vehicle. I was just going to patch the holes with sheetmetal. This is going to be my winter vehicle so i dont want to take on any water. As funds and time become available i would get a new tailgate and rear doors. but i am not to worried about that right now.

we will see how the project progresses.....really want that 5vz and trd supercharger...:grinpimp:

haha......., it really is a shame that it rusted out. it was such a good looking vehicle when it was new. These things should be dipped in POR15 at the factory to prevent rust.

sorry that i have no progress pictures..

Bump the thread.

Also bump this specific link. Does anybody know what happened with A.O.R.? Their website seems to have disappeared or something. I'm suddenly much more interested in ordering something.... (something in the ADD died, so I have filled my heart with hate for IFS :censor:)

Its been awhile since I posted an update.
Progress has been moving along at a slow and steady pace.
I installed a new sunroof from a junk yard, and am currently working on the rear suspension. My rear coil spring mounts were trashed, so I cut them off with a torch. There was an easier solution, but I did not think of it until after the fact.
Anyways so I set out to recreate what I cut off, I determined I needed 4.75 inch O.D. pipe. Can not buy it in Ann Arbor. So I had to make it.
I started with 4.5 inch and wrapped it one revolution with 1/8 plate.

After I welded them to the chassis, upside down, with large gaps. Not fun.

I also overhauled the engine.

Oops, put them in the wrong way!!

Things are coming along nicley at this point. Look for more frequent updates.

AOR went out of business a couple years ago.....

I would definitely recommend capping those steering stops and gusseting the knuckle ball....

Are you planning on making your own plates for the steering box relocation?

a.o.r sounds familiar but i cant seam to figure it out. what does it stand for?

it might as well have been sunk in the northern salt. Thats 14 michigan winters and not a single trip to the car wash. Thats what it will look like.....really a shame.
Still not sure about what i am going to do with the steering box. I can make my own plates, but it is really a pain to do. I wonder what will happan if i just leave it in its stock location.
I do like my spring mounts alot, I dont see them breaking. Engine rebuild went well, but i am still trying to track down some of those funky pre bent hoses that run along the firewall.
Does anyone know where to get the lead that hooks to the oil pressure sender, mine in messed up. I broke it off accidently, it dosent have the right connector anyways. Might have to just rig something up.
I think i have a few of those caps laying around, I have ones off of an I.F.S. system.
slow progress...

Junkyard.

Just go buy the right pigtail and splice them together (use a quality crimped connector or a western union splice).

well back at it again.

Currently it sits on all fours, but there is just one little problem.

The front is about 5 inches taller than the rear. I have no expernce with leaf springs, but something tells me they are not going to settle that much.

All in all while finishing up the nic nacs the trail gear kit has been a dissappointment.

Brake lines have been hard to make work espically.

anyone got any ideas on how to fix my lift, other than removing a few leafs from the springs?
