SNIP

The ride is firm but freaking great compared to the stock, worn out junk. Ended up getting 3" and a bit in the front and 2.5" rear and its still got a mean 80 rake even though I went with heavies in the front and meds in the rear.

Ill get some pics up tomorrow.

D

D,
Curious that you the heavies in front, mediums in back, gain more in the front, yet still have some rake.

Since I've got my bumper and winch on now, that's the combination I was thinking of going with -- and I know I have at least another 100 pounds up front between the 12k and the extra metal on the ARB.

The thing is that I'm worried that once I get things installed, I'm going to need a spacer, then the spacer will be too much (reverse rake) and then what?

Curious to see what your solution will be to what you have on the van now - or if you think it's even worth bothering with?

Just to chime in, you can make a custom spacer to whatever length you want for your truck. just .01

Honestly, the rake doesnt bother me enough to mess with it. Maybe when I winch up the front and get that ipor xmember on there.........

I dont think a spacer would reverse rake your van since there are a couple options out there. Id be worried about the caster being thrown off even more (on a side note, I got mine on the hwy today and it didnt feel any different than before the lift. No caster bushings installed yet and I dont know if I ever will..) You could load up the back w some drawers/tools if it bugs you.

Heres some daytime pics. It seems to sit about as high as an f250 for what thats worth.

-install ipor skid (sittin on the bench)

-install gas tank when it arrives (on a greyhound somewhere)

-get the exhaust redone and tucked up (sooner than later)

-check front wheel bearings (sooner than later)

-get a new windshield (seems to constantly slip on the priority list)

-never ending body work

Ill probably have a longer list next week lol.

D

yeah I know the feeling. I probably have over a grand in parts on the shelf waiting to go on, hopefully I'll make some progress over the three day weekend

Looks good aggressive yet not too tall, a definite improvement over stock height. Brings all the features together I think.

Thanks man.

Those aren't OME medium rears with that much lift :hhmm:

With the pic, I'd say it looks good. If I end up there front vs back, I'd be happy...

Except I forgot to mention is that I'm tending toward the "stock" height coils. I'm just not sure that I'd be able to get it in the garage with 2.5 plus 33" tires. I'm going back and forth between put the lift on it and seeing how close it fits the garage or buying the tires first, then seeing if the lift will fit. Not sure either approach is ideal or maybe I should just breakout the sawzall and an I-beam to put a lift on the garage door?

Anyway, hijack off, your ride is looking real good now, "complete" but ready for more changes.:beer:

This is what OME medium looks like with 33's. Those pics look like J's in the rear.
OME on 33's.webp

Hmmmmm, now you have me wondering Nay. I ordered 850's and 860's and Im pretty sure thats how the coils were labeled. Im gonna go look on the garage floor to see if I can find them to make sure.

To add to the saga, my hard line on the ds side of the rear axle let go yesterday. We may have nicked it but it looked to be leaking behind one of the mounting brackets. Got it all fixed up now but was unable to switch up the lspv w my new one like I planned (had to bleed anyways). The damn thing is part of the mounting bracket now..

Got some nuts/bolts for the ipor skid since the stockers are snapping off as I try to get em out. I might start the drilling and tapping this weekend.

Oh well at least I get to drive it on the long weekend.

Your skid should have come with hardware. Did you not get a hardware kit?---Nathan w/ IPOR

looks good. btw, that's exactly how mine sat with the 850/860 combo too.

Good grief, he has 5"+ of lift in the rear.

It's a warm and sunny Friday, and I was going to refrain from another rant on how you can order a 50mm suspension and get 5" of lift when the next guy with the same vehicle gets 3" (and in my pic there is no spare tire/carrier on the back)...

Maybe OME has just started using rear Slee 6" coils for their 2" kit :flipoff2:? I never get how this doesn't piss you guys off. You order a 1" taller front coil hoping to end up with a properly level suspension and still end up with 2" higher in the rear. Now to fix this you'll add front coil spacers and suddenly you have a 5" lift with completely inadequate coil specifications plus everything else that comes with a tall lift when all you wanted was a basic 2" lift and some 33's.

The good news is you can do 37's now no problem and somebody else will buy your OME coils for 60% of retail (75% if you sell soon) so you can get coils properly designed for that amount of lift on an 80.

Unbelievable the lack of quality control to get those kind of lift variances from the same coil. Of course, I was in the UK last week and a Scottish colleague of mine was going on about what a great beer Budweiser is, and that kind of explains everything...:hillbilly:

Oh the skid came w hardware and some stickers to boot. Thanks man.

Thing is the factory x member bolts are snapping and I dont have a tap thats the right size to use the ipor supplied hardware. I went to my local mine supply place and picked up some gr 8 bolts that should do nicely.

As far as the lift goes, I found one of the stickers that came on the rear coils and theyre 860's. The rake has already started to grow on me so I dont see myself going w spacers.

Nay,
Exactly why I've been worrying about such things. No matter what happens, it's got to still fit through a 6'6" garage door -- unless I remodel.
I'd rather it just fit the first time.

3 words:

OME is affordable.

Seriously though, the standard OME lift is popular for the obvious reasons - its cheap, decent quality and requires few 'other' things to get the pig riding properly. It's not the "best" lift but it gets the job done
